Re: Ecu/pcm Programmer?
just going to add my two cents about warranty, from my dealership days (not gm),We did the repair and if the truck was under warranty we would summit a claim to the component manufacturer on behalf of the owner.know this is were it gets sucky.if the caim is rejected a week later by the manufacturer, who ends up paying. If you released the truck to the customer a week before he's going to say to bad for you iam not paying i got my truck.most of the time you can get per approval for warranty repairs from the manufacturer but can add to delays in repair time, dealerships dont like getting stuck paying for rejected warranty claims. You have to prove its a defective part that caused the failure before the manufacturer will pay.sucks for you the customer.if its not a known warranty repair the dealership might not want the hassle of submitting a claim.its easy just to make the customer pay. just my two cents. most good dealerships get per approval before repairs and go to bat for the customer if they suspect a defective part. but dont think your going to pull the wool over there eyes, failure analysis is there job and its big money to them.

oh one more thing cease iam on aroll. Horsepower upgrade!! You my be able to increase hp easy on the engine but you have to make sure the rest of the drive train is spec'd for that hp ,trans ,tranfer ,drive line components, even the frame and BRAKES. you may cause a expensive weak link.

If all goes to plan we should get 2 units shipped out for 100$ a peice to test out in the real world. They might ask us to provide some feedback as part of the deal.
Regular price for these is likely around 300$

Holy crap well thanks a million, I super super appreciate that. I owe you... seriously.
You make some good points cbrandson about the warranty and bumping up the HP. Overall I wouldn't be too worried about reliability just using programmer, I figure you'd be lucky to see an extra 20 hp which is less than a 10% increase. On my Mustang I tons of mods and hp is up 75% over stock. I don't drive the piss out of it but I don't exactly take it easy either, but in 2 years I haven't had a single problem with it... knock on wood. Every vehicle is different but I feel like the HP from a tuner is probably well within the capacity of the stock components... One can only hope!!

Re: Ecu/pcm Programmer?
I tend to agree, a lot of cases where people are getting huge gains from FI they neglect the brakes, drivetrain and suspension components needed to fully utilize it.
However with that said I doubt you will see significant gains from just a programmer, maybe 3-5% at most without physically changing out parts. Honestly I hope it will be just enough to make up for the 6% difference with larger tires.
Rule of thumb is 30% on most cars before you start breaking stuff... depending on the car you can go even higher. I don't think it is possible to get 30% more power out of this 5cyl without an FI system.
The brakes on the Hummer also feel pretty strong, I think it is the same brakes as the Alpha so I am not too worried about the ratio between power to brakes yet.

On a side note I really don't know how long it will take, I have been through Beta testing with a few companies over the years, sometimes it can take up to 3 months before you see the product. You will have to have some patience <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Just an update, I heard back from them recently; they are still waiting for the Beta unit to be released to them for testing. Could be a while yet until we see something, but in any case we will be the first to try it out!

Another e-mail, they are STILL working away on trying to get a Beta one. Not sure why it is taking so long.
