Well, I guess not that many people are interested. I will have to scale back a lot to something I can afford on my own.

Sorry - haven't been following this post....

It may be hard to develope a community kit due to the different vehicles. Seems each time I go out I learn something new. Liek having the tools required to do field repairs is critical. It didn;t take me all that long to fix the hummer - nor did it take us long to get it to the point of running again.

Although reduces to 2 wd - I don't see the necessity of carrying drive shafts "Just in case" as you can remove one side and it will still run until you can make repairs. However having a spare tie rods and ball joints I think should be essential now as it only takes a short period of time to fix, but the vehicle is completely undrivable in the interim.

Each having your own tools will simply be a necessity as we each have our tools for around the house - just bring them with you when it's offroading time....

Like I am going to run out now and include a 35mm socket so I can remove a shaft in teh field if necessary...

Bad news on the H3 parts at Napa. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Dude says our vehicles are just too new and there are no part listings in their system!

Yeah I have been getting that kind of story everywhere, I might give Parts Unlimited a call on Monday. They usually have 2 or 3 suppliers even when Napa only has 1 (or none).

For the hell of it I will check Canadian Tire, but experience tells me if Napa can't get it then Canadian Tire certainly won't either. I guess dealer is the only way, eh? Shaganappi is more or less on my way home so I'll stop by the parts department this week and see what they're asking for this stuff!

Canadian Tire & Napa actually in bed with each other, I think CT owns Napa

They do sometimes have different stuff, but I find a lot of redundancy in their suppliers.

LOL

So I did find some prices at GMPartsDirect.ca, more expensive than I thought actually! Here's what they quoted me:

Collision Catalog - 2008 - Hummer - H3

Steering gear and linkage, Steering gear and linkage, Outer tie rod, Outer tie rod Back - $93.40

Collision Catalog - 2008 - Hummer - H3

Steering gear and linkage, Steering gear and linkage, Inner tie rod, Inner tie rod Back - $85.80

Collision Catalog - 2008 - Hummer - H3

Steering gear and linkage, Steering gear and linkage, Boot kit, Boot kit - $62.32

One of each: $241.52

And there was no listing for a CV unfortunately but I can only imagine... Ballpark it at $400+... Plus the boots... maybe $500? Still gonna get to Crappy Tire just for the heck of it.

EDIT: Nothing at Crappy Tire either!

Yeah US source parts should be a lot better priced
