Of course... on my way down to BC I got about a billion rock chips as it hailed rocks tossed up by semi trucks and unattentive drivers hitting the shoulder; add a little heat the next morning to cure away the frost and suddenly a nail screetching "CRACK" came out of the window as the forces of nature divided it neatly into two separate peices. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />



Shaw is having some kind of draw on the 29th for a free winshield which would fit the bill, but if that doesn't pan out what are the best bets for replacement here around Calgary that won't cost me three arms and a twelve toes?



I really need to look into getting a rock guard on the hood to try and deflect a few more of these little buggers.

I had the H2 replaced at Crystal Auto glass in Bowness for $280 cash... I would imagine yours would be less being much smaller... give them a call and see what they say..

If you feel like a drive, Darryl's Glass in Cochrane has a great reputation in town, no idea what they'd charge you but they have good prices and take care of their customers!

I don't mind the drive, just looking for a quality job at a good price. I will probably wait a bit longer until spring comes along, odds are I will pick up a few more rock chips before this winter is over.



My neighbour down the street has some kind of innovative product, the best way to describe it is 3M for glass. He just took over distribution rights for all of Western Canada from his business partner, apparently it has been a big hit with Canada post trucks to prevent rock chips and cracks.

Yeah, but how much.....



That's the issue I find with alot of these things as due to being "New and revolutionary" they price it ridiculously!

My windshield is cracked all the way from one side to the other and I also have about 3 other bullseyes and chips. I am in need of a new one as well but the crack is only about 4inchs from the bottom so its not in my line of vision so I am just going to leave it for now. As far as price goes, doesn't your insurance cover it and you pay the deductable?

Alberta is pretty sticky for winshield protection, if this was BC it would just be covered with no questions asked. Here you have to pay for it as a separate item or it is not included, not sure if I have coverage or not, but my deductable is $300 so I won't bother going that route anyway.



It sounded pretty expensive for this stuff, probably a few hundred bucks. It sounds like Canada Post has been happy with it, but I have never heard of anybody else using it before. He has a roll of the stuff at his house, but it sounds like a pain to apply to the window.
