Magnaflow or Gibson? Sound, performance, why?

And what about B&B?

I was searching around for exhaust a few months back and I never really found one that sounded good.

The best I ever heard was a Flowmaster 40 muffler swapped out for the stock one, I don't think Flowmaster actually sells a kit for the H3 but any shop can swap the mufflers. A chambered muffler like the Flowmaster sounds OK behind the 5 cylinder, but most systems sound hideous! I decided to leave the stock exhaust...

But if we're talking about the V8... Then you got some real options!!!! Swap in some high-flow cats and a Magnaflow system, pow! Can't do much better than that! Smooth but aggressive, can't do much better than that for my money.

I think it also comes down to your preference for sound..... I believe that they all accomplish the same goal but vary is sound and volume..

I went through a couple changes to get the sound I wanted. I originally went with a flowmaster without cats..... Holy ^!$!@^^ was it freakin loud! My normally tollerant neighbors were eyeballing me and even I didn't like it as it actually drowned out the stereo...

So I found out from that muffler though 2 things..... One: The H2's need to have cats so I put back on High Flow Cats, and 2: The Flowmaster has a higher tinny pitch than the Magnaflow..

So in the end I have High Flow Cats with a Magnaflow Muffler. Had I the money, I would have twinned it, but I didn't.... So the Magnaflow has a deeper sound to it which I like, but the flowmaster somehow insulates the Cab a bit better from the noise.... I guess they are designed that way with better shielding.

That was my experience... never heard of B&B though...

I was woundering because all the videos that I found on youtube didn't sound that different than stock to me. Maybe you need a V8 for a bigger difference?

Khamul,

I have been looking along time as well, and nothing has made me go WOW, that sounds good. Any chance you can put a little sound bite of your exhaust on here?

thanks

Just keep in mind he's in a H2 with the 6.2L V8! His system definitely wouldn't sound anything like the same system on our H3s..

Here's how my H2 sounds now with the modifications that I made (Excuse the voice - I sound very nasally on video... kinda like lois Griffin!)

Again, this is on my H2, Now I did have 2 H3's prior to this one - last one being an H3 Alpha which I loved - I just needed a bit bigger with 3 kids and a trailer. I swapped out the stock for a Magnaflow kit from the Cat back. honestly - not much of a difference and I was dissapointed especially for the price. I would still do it again, but I would also swap out the stock Cat for a high-flow... that should give you a little more grumble not to mention a bit better fuel economy and a horse or 2. (You don't get a significant increase in HP like alot of people say).

Khamul,

thanks, that sounds great. Again thanks for the info, it really helped alot, I too have 3 kids, that's a good reason to upgrade <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> if any I think. Now I have a few options

Hi Guys

Is there anyone that made the move to a magnaflow on an H3 with the 5.3. like everyone else didnt really found good quality sound track to make the choice.

Even on magnaflow site, the little sound track they have is really poor in quality.

Would like to hear some feed back if some have made the change.

Regards
