Alright after much deliberation i decided to supercharge my baby Hummer. the question is (i really want your opinion here) the risk factors involved with installing the system and which is the best supercharger for my Alpha. now i found this supercharger to be very promising ( http://www.houseofboost.com/store/super ... d_599.html) i really want your opinion on this supercharger as i am capable of returning the truck to stock specs right after. i want to note to everyone that i am never selling this truck. i just want to make sure it is still in its prime on the road. worst comes to worse i will swap an LS7 motor in there. however i would rather not unless the engine dies. here is a supercharged H3 Alpha ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgcXP9XHyNo) most companies have discontinued producing superchargers for the Alpha. so any assistance would be great. thanks guys.
If any of you know of a company in quebec or Ontario that can do the job i will be more than happy to hear it thank you. (would help if they have all the parts as well so i dont have to start collecting and then trying to find someone to install it)

Re: H3 Alpha owners only
I used to work in accessory sales at a local GM dealer, we sold 3-4 of the Magnusson supercharger kits for a 5.3l 1500 Silverado, a Denali suv w/ 6.2l, a Transformer edition Camaro SS, and installed one in a 2007 H2. Really easy to install, they give you a greatly detailed instruction manual. If I was ever looking for forced air on my Alpha this would be the way to go. I'm not an expert mechanic by any means but these kits are rediculously easy to install, and if you're not the type to do it yourself any dealer or performance shop should be able to handle it simply.

Re: H3 Alpha owners only
I have the Magnuson Super Charger on my H3T Alpha and it makes it a fun truck!
No one expects it to be fast! I beat my brothers turbo diesel X5 this weekend, so it's well worth it!

Allen our H3 Alpha's share engines with the silverado 5.3l so kit should fit. Also may I suggest you attend the GM powertrain show in August in St Catherines Ontario they built the 5.3l v8 there and have some displays of our engine parts and suppliers of aftermarket goodies.

Re: H3 Alpha owners only
Why did you decide on a complete motor swap over mod-ing the LH8? A complete motor swap seems like a lot more headache over pulling the current Alpha motor and just doing a basic upgrade: LQ9 6.0L heads, ported & polished, a lumpy cam and
flat top pistons and you'd be above a basic LS3 Hp & torque easy and you shouldn't have to buy a complete engine management system you can just tune the current engine mapping program. Not to mention if you've got a shop able to fabricate engine mounts for an LS3 to mount in they can probably do a fair bit of exhaust work i.e: Exhaust manifolds.
You'd be surprised how much these trucks wake up with an upgraded torque converter and a valve body upgrade as well.
I'm just thinking that buying a complete LS3 engine, making it fit in the truck, making it work with the transmission, getting the electronics to sync up, making a new exhaust system and hoping to not dis-integrate the 4l60e trans once you do get it on the road you could probably save a good chunk of change by modding the motor you have. Pull the stock 5.3, go the bore and Stroke route and jump from the 325 to a 383, run a nice flat-top or just high quality piston, get into a decent cam profile and have a performance shop do a port & polish on the heads and get a set of high flowing exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters the engine would be reliable enough to be a daily driver, have enough power to do whatever you want and with a decent tune on the factory computer the money saved could upgrade the transmission enough to make it last and be just as durable for whatever punishment you send it.
That's just my thoughts on the project.
