Canadian Warranty on imported Hummers

Post by MarcoH3 »

I recently bought a Hummer H3 2007 from a friend of mine in the states, got a great deal on it and its fully loaded with only 4000 miles on it...  when i brought it to the dealer they told me i had the change the closter to Km/h if i wanted to have garanty on my truck!?  they told me it would cost me $550+taxs to have the closter removed and sent to a specialist to make the changes, and would take 2 days to get my truck back and i have to rent my own car if i need one!

Now i called GM Canada to find out why i have to do all of this and they told me that its stander proceidure.  so i asked them to fax me the sheet stating that this is what i have to do, and he said he cant send me nothing, he can only tell me verbaly?<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />

am i getting screwed here,  what should i do??  has anyone else had this problem?  <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />  i think 550$ is a little too much for something that isn't even necessary!!

please give me your advices

my H2 was an import, I never changed the cluster and I have not only warranty on it but I also bought the extended warranty on mine. My cluster still is MPH today, I have not changed it yet.

When I was researching importing an H3 to Canada, I contacted GM Canada and my closest Hummer dealership in Regina Sask. asking if they would honor the warranty.  I got the same response from both.  They said if the H3 was used and had 7500 miles on it or more, they would honor the remaining warranty.  If it had less than 7500 miles, they would honor it after the odometer rolls over the 7500 mile blackout period.

I don't have the emails with me right now, but if you need a copy of them, let me know and I will see if I can find them later.
