Guys, wanted to share my latest innovation research in having Propane Gas Conversion Kit installed in H2/H3 vehicles. I am about to install the Propane tank in my new 2008 H2 and fuel savings are tremendous...0.57c/L for propane with our gas prices can make a sagnificant difference .
I got an estimate for 3500.00 +1000 labour(dealer cost)
Less: 1000.00 Goverment Conversion Green Rebate
and i can probably knock the additional 500.00 if we have more people doing conversion.....he did 2 hummers already with 100l tank and suggest to any Hummer owner to keep the truck with this bi-fuel conversion option as it can be great resale value since gas prices go up...
I did my research and math if you drive 25 000kms with average of 25l/100kms the system gets paid with in 9 months of fuel savings...thats huge difference
What you think guys? 100% taxi cabs and tow trucks are on propane - lots of stations (over 15 in GTA, South Ontario,Barrie etc)
Have anyone done it for his truck?

I had it in a car years back and loved it. you do not have quite as much power on take off but the savings are worth it.
a flick of a switch and you are back on the gas and off you go.
the cost Vs. saving makes it worth doing, especially if you are a high miler you will see the difference in your pocket within a few weeks.
the only question I have is where do they install the tank? mine was in the trunk of that car?

A gas / propane hybrid? I like the sound of that. I never realized before that you could run both.

yeah it runs on both.
my one had a 3 position switch, First is on LPG, when running flick to the second position to stop the LPG and when you feel the car slow you flick to the 3rd for gas and off you go.
the only issue is the 100ltr tank, think of a hockey bag and thats about the size of it. I use my trunk area all the time so thats something to think about, it takes up space.
it is still worth doing but for an easy visual on the tank install, just stick a hockey bag in the space and you get the idea straight away.
the other issue is the amount of gas stations, 15 over the GTA is not a lot. check with rental companies that do construction equipment. a lot of their stuff runs on LPG so you may be able to fill up their as well.
the nice thing is the cash saving, I use to fill that car once a week with gas, when I did the conversion I fill the LPG once a month for 1/2 the price and the gas tank once every 3-5 weeks.

Yeah you can use both gas and propane. they install a switch somewhere on dashboard. you can change a gas or propane while you travel kinda cool
When I was living in Germany, I had one on My Hummer H2

i d like to book an install for last week of feb , as i said i might package the deal so we all can save on tax, price and labour but i wanted to propose the a package so we all can score on savings. the average cost of converting H2 is about 5900 as per different websites, and we can get wholesale price if more trucks are joining....

Just so you guys know;
Diesel trucks can benefit from propane also. Running propane with diesel will actually eliminate the soot, boost power and fuel economy and reduce maintenance due to the lack of soot in the oil. It will lower your EGTs so you can actually give it more boost! Propane on a diesel is like nitrous for a gas engine, with one big difference, you can run the propane/diesel together all the time!
For the gas trucks, propane doesn't have such stellar benefits, you will reduce your emissions and you will be able to go much longer on an oil change and you will be able to reduce your maintenance, but it will take 2.3times the amount of propane to do what the gasoline did. There will be a significant difference in power and you will use more of it! Since I work in the forklift industry, I can tell you that one 50lbs tank of propane might only last you 2-3 hours if you really push it hard, but never more than 8hours on a regular shift, and this would be for an engine no bigger than 4.3L! We have 6.0L V8s!!!
Also you need to modify the ignition system as well, a spark will not jump across a 0.060 gap in propane like it will in gas! You need around 0.035 or less!
Just my 2 cents!
