Trail West Supplier Online

Post by Gadgets »

These guys worked great with me.

I had been looking for rear tail light guards recently. However it got difficult to find stainless steel ones. Many adds and listings are carefully worded to make it sound like they are steel, but really they are ABS plastic chrome plated and use 3M tape to hold them on. I did eventually find a place called Trails West Online.

The price was great ($159 vs $300+ at other places) so I ordered them. This is where it got sticky. Turns out they can place an order to a third party address. I used my credit card, but entered the delivery address of our plant in the U.S. where I work. Their system, like many, require the shipping address to match the credit card address. OK, I said, send it to my home.... they don't ship to Canada! Ugh. Do they do paypal, nope. So their suggestion was to call my credit card company and have them temporarily change my billing address to our plant's address, call them back to place the order, once placed, call credit card company back and change the billing address back. After asking around, this is pretty normal apparently. However, my credit card company wasn't thrilled with that. So, I ended up giving a co-worker the cash, who then put it on his card, and once it appeared on his card, we called Trails West back and ordered them using my co-workers name address, etc.

The reason I'm sharing, is because this all took about 3 weeks or more, because at one point I was in Ohio about a half hour from them, so I thought I'd stop in and pay cash, however I ended up with no time to do so. Through all of these delays, paying, not paying, different credit card, etc. the guy I dealt with, Mike, kept them in his office so they wouldn't get sold. They were the last set, and he had opened them for me to confirm they were stainless steel. They came arrived as planned and are now on the truck.

I thought I'd give them a shout out because they trusted me and the fact I was going to buy them, actually pulled them from inventory and held them. I think that says a lot of a very small company. Might be worth a look for people who have US addresses.

Yes, I knew I would be hearing about it! That is about it though, truck was off balance with chrome on the front and nothing on the back, needed a little something but I didn't want the solid chrome vent covers, just a little something and these were it. I think I'm done with the chrome now, so you can relax Derek.

The truck looks great! Just a little chrome with the red, covered in mud!
Norm & Sue
2004 Pewter H2 (with a splash)
2010 White H3T (sold)

I'm not stuck, I'm momentarily inconvenienced.
