When you read the racing post, scroll down to the "C" series post..... with the extras shown it stands at over $90,000............ and you still have to put the engine and trans in!!!! Holy Crap...

AM General had told us that even if you allow $20k to source your own engine/trans on top of the $90k price tag what you would be getting is essentially a brand new H1/Humvee for well below the asking price of a new H1 during the last year they were being offered. They did a good job of reminding us that this will be a kit like no other- a kit using authentic parts from the original manufacturer, not a cheap fiberglass body on a vw chassis lol. They have such an efficient assembly process that they can offer the kit like 85% finished with less cost and effort than it would be to bag everything and ship it completely unassembled.

Dont get me wrong, I would love a new "C" series but, $100,000 for a ride like that and I doubt very many people would be taking them off road in a hurry. I still think that AM should have gone for volume at a cheaper price. Personally I would be more inclined to buy an older H1 for $20,000 - $30,000 and spend $15,000 - $20,000 getting it back to "new" condition. That is still half the cost for what would be the same rig to a great degree.
I am still wondering about the insurance costs for the "C" as it is still a "kit car" no matter what way you look at it?

I hear ya mang! If it was just as simple for me as "write a cheque" I'd be on the list for a C series. However, since I have to squirrel money away to save for another truck it will most likely be a '99 or maybe 2000 H1. Just need to decide if it'll be a hard top or soft top...oh , and save more pennies!! lol Any members need their driveways shoveled?? Call me! <img src='

Oddly i paid 90k for my truck used back in 2000 when they were not cheap, so 100k 12 years later for a brand new up to date truck is good,i think.
If i add up my repairs etc plus shop rent and tools over the years its way more than the truck cost. Right now the only way i could get a Csries would be to sell my existing truck which is not an option. We will see what happens down the road. I hope enough people buy in to keep it going.

I guess that is a very good point. We don't see many 2006 H1's on the used market and they are still valued well above $110 000 when they do sell. If I remember correctly we were told that a 2006 Alpha retailed over $150 and are now selling used for more than that.
