Outta curiosity has any driven really far in the h1s?

Like we drive across Canada in our h2 and was very easy and enjoyable,

But say for and 8 hr ride in a h1, Hwy speed , I'm assuming long as fluids topped up should be good to go.

Lol I'm expecting a noisy ride, hehe

When we went to AMG few years ago with bunch of H1s in convoy - we didn't go faster than 90km/h. I was falling asleep. I was told that if you drive faster on H1 for some period of time - it is going to blow-up :-)

Early models had reduced top end speed-2.76 gears. Newer models have 2.53 gears I have driven my hummers to TN,Qc,IN and NC. As long as all cooling systems are clean, no issues, The 90km tour was due to older models or maybe my cummins with 3.08 gears. My top end is 75 wide open. 

I have taken my 99 H1 pulling a trailer on 7 hour drives multiple times. 100 KMH / 2200 RPM on 40" rubber.... no problem. Smooth sailing and the gearcases are only warm to the touch. Good stereo, good conversations, watch the gauges and enjoy the ride. I am really not sure how fast it will actually go as I have never found the need to push it to the limit as it was not designed for high speed travel. 
 
Face it your truck is only as good as the maintenance you do on it. If it "blows up" it likely your own fault.
 
I will agree the H2 is more relaxed to drive and is a pleasure to take on long trips but I enjoy taking the H1. Simply a preference for me.

Have driven to Michigan, Tenn and Indiana in the H1 and all were good trips.
 
No rush = no problem.
Change oil as required and fluids good = no problem.
Noise from Super Swampers means all quiet (or sleeping) passengers = no problem.
No problem = good trip.

Hmm! I guess i thought it was 90mph. That would explain why i got there 3 hours before you guys. I kept looking in the mirror and we even stopped atop a bridge and waited for ya'all.
Aside from diesel consumption being a little higher at 80mph plus the H1 seems to do just fine on the highway. 90kmh is just painful.
I drove down east in one shot and back without issues on a 2400 mile trip. I often take my truck on long trips, if fact i don't drive it unless im putting at least 100 miles on it. Takes about 50miles to warm up before you can run the truck at speed without munching the engine. Oil needs to be hot if you are running over 70mph.

I think the only thing that any H1 needs for a long trip would be better seats...especially for the rear passengers! Unless you have a 2004 or 2006 of course.
 
The newer trucks can run very happily at 70mph all day thanks to the more highway friendly 2.56:1 axle gears.

You're right about the seats...although I find my seat quite comfortable for long trips but I have sympathy for anyone riding in the back seats. 
I rode 20 miles in the back seat of my truck once. It was not very roomy and the view was fairly limited...to put it mildly.
 
I never had a beer problem after the trail since!   

Lol I've never sat in the back and didn't even think of the space, haha

But now that I think of it, it probably is not good for viewing...

My dog uses the middle of the back seats and he's comfy..
