GM still gets to control the marketing and royalties of Hummer, without having to produce them anymore... which if you venture into any toy store has about two dozen Hummer toys at any given time.
That aside I think GM knows the potential for Hummer and when the time comes it will be re-introduced... likely as a green vehicle to counter all the negative anti-environment press it got before.
For now... GM is going to attempt to fill the void for off-road vehicles with the new line of Chevy All-Terrain HD's.

But Jeep is coming to a similar fate; the latest edition to the Jeep fleet is the compass.... and it is by no means an off-road vehicle.
