HELP!

Post by Khamul »

I'm hoping someone can help!!!!

I need the front main drive shaft for my 08 H2, I just found out that's a dealer part.... I'm not even going to bother phoning them!

Before I drive down to Montana for a new one - does anyone know of one somewhere? H2's never show up at wreckers here as dealers buy them, so if anyone knows of a 08 r newer H2 at a wrecker... please let me know!

Many Thanks

(And to answer the question that I'm sure is popping in your head.... I was being stupid!!! But I'm sure it looked awesome seeing my front end airborne...)

Dave ?

Call me First !!!

I have A Brand New one taken out of my 08 H2 at about 200 Kms when the dealer put my Suspension Lift Kit in and replaced the factory driveshaft.

I am Edmontin area

Don't know what cost is but I will take a fair price

Say 75 % of new <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' /> I drove it for 3 or 4 days when it arrived and then took it in for the lift kit to br dealer installed.

Brian has my cell number still. So dies Gaza

Just on the road back from red earth

I was just in Calgary Friday for an hour but never know where I will be till the phone rings... Lol

I have the Main ling shaft. I think they reused the short piece with the new shaft

Better get driving Niw as Distracted driving law is in effect <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Sounds like a plan... I would have to see it though as if they reused the short piece (?? That may be the piece that broke), it may be useless to me.

I was also told that my father in law is in Phoenix so he offered to stop in Montana on the way home.

So if I can use it - I'll definitely make you an offer as I'm sure it doesn't do you any good, just have to find out the U.S. price as I would base it off that as I have easy access to their parts..

Let me know if that's ok with you...

I just checked GM Parts direct... $284.. Send me a picture of how it sits now and I should know if it will work....

PM Me your number - I see what you mean by they used the short piece so that half you have left is what I need. I'm thinking $100 for that half - let me know what you think.

Yeah I'm with Derek, I want to see photos of your wheels in the air and the resulting carnage! Better yet do you have a video?<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />?

I can't get ahold of Road Warrior so I may have to do the order

Those prices on Ebay are awesome.... but I don't know if the years are the same 03 - 07 and 08 & up. There are some changes under there so I don;t think that they are....

Kevin my friend... do you know?

As as soon as I post something, I talk to him.... LOL - that was my plan as that's how it always works!!

So I think I look good in the end, his half shaft - I have new Ujoints and boot kit lines up so back on the road for $200 bucks as long as there is no other damage and I don't think there is....

Once I have the parts - I'll take pictures of the repair so everyone can see....

I'll Close this thread off now.... Thanks to all those who gave their input - and thanks again to Road Warrior for the new shaft! Fit in like a glove! I thought you meant that it was missing the shorter splined end, but saw the "shorter piece" that you were talking about when I was re-installing it

So end of the day - pretty impressed with how they've designed the H2 and how it can be readily fixed in the field. B-Man had a mechanic friend on the phone as we were pulling it out of the transfer case and were expecting fluid to come gushing out... but it was totally sealed! Once we were confident enough - came out easily and the new one went back in easily! Not bad at all!!

I forgot to take pictures though.... sorry. Needless to say to U-Joint broke cleanly (Which is what you really want to have happen!!) but the shaft did get chewed up a bit before it stopped spinning. May have been able to re-use it, but I felt that it simply was not worth the risk as alot of torque under there especially in low gear....

Thanks again RW!!! Looking forward to finally meeting you one day!!
