Mechanical Support: AM General
Description: Moab, UT - As always, one of the most exciting and exhilarating events that you can enjoy and challenge not only yourself but your truck. This is absolutely one awesome event and you certainly should try to attend. Trail days are Sept. 26 - 28.
Ouray, CO - Most trails are easy to moderate, very scenic, ascending above 12,000 feet and can be driven by everyone. You will get to see some World Class mountain views. This is a 3-day pre-run that will lead the group to Moab, UT. Trail days are Sept. 22 - 24. This year we will do Black Bear Pass (a little bit tougher).
AM General will be providing mechanical support for this event in Moab, UT.
Fees: N/A
Registration Info:
Mechanical Support is provided at all major Club events
At major HUMMER Club events, AM General or the local HUMMER dealer sends technicians and a supply trailer with a complete tool and parts inventory to ensure that each and every HUMMER is able to fully participate in the driving activities and drive home. In almost every situation where a mechanical failure occurs, the HUMMER is fixed before trail time the next day. Factory and dealer technicians normally work each evening to assure, to the best of their abilities / resources, that every participant is able to get on the trail the next day. This is factory support without equal in the industry and only available at HUMMER Club events!

Re: MOAB ANYONE !
Oh man is this ever tempting, especially with AM Gen providing support for the run. If my goal wasnt to get to Moab next year in September, and my truck wasnt in need of a few more things (rock tubes, front locker, and a couple other goodies) I'd be in like sin.
What happens when AM General provides support? Do they charge you for the labor & parts according to a certain list? Id imagine that having 'em on board gives a huge peace of mind to owners who are hesitant.
Wish I could come.

When AM General provide support, all you do is pay for the part, labour is free, this is the same support we had last month when we were at their track in Indiana..it is a great thing to have and not many events have this anymore. Usually there is a sponsorship dealership that provides all the parts and techs and AM General will send one of their more senior Mechanic along the way to assist, even those mechanic are far and few now with the cut backs on the civilian line and models at AMG.
Looks and sounds like fun but for me, this is just a bit too far...enjoy

I'd be very interested to see the shipping price. If it was good, I *might* reconsider.

I don't know about the transport cost to Moab as I drove out there, but the lodging was reasonable, as was the fee.
On another trip I was on with AM General Driving Academy alumni, it was quite expensive but world class care and lodging. This was all in Colorado, Great Divide, Black Bear, etc.
The current Ouray/Moab trip is a fraction of the cost.
If you can at all make it, Moab is the mecca of off-roading.
I went out a week ahead and did the pre-runs and was a guide the following week on one of the trails (the easiest, in fact, the one I was least likely to lose the group. lol.).
The traction almost everywhere is awesome, and in fact the regular GSA tires are better than more heavily treaded tires, though of course all will work.
This is a trip of unbelievable beauty and pure fun and excitement.
If you can do it, do it!
You will never experience anything better off-road, and you will have memories for a lifetime.
