Hello,

Looking for a good advice - would you recommend getting a CB radio with all its pros/cons or go for a VHF/UHF?

I like the VHF/UHF range, sound quality and size of the handheld but not sure how many actually use these here in Canada when going out with a group like the coming weekend?

Thanks,
Johan

9am at Black Lake, got it. Am tentatively planning on going up Friday night and camping so hoping some others go.

Johan, I run a CB radio and have had great success with it. You can buy portable CB radios as well that work good.

We will meet at Black Lake, same as last  last year.

CB radio is the only way to go. I also carry some FRS radios in case my or someone's CB fails. Have seen antennas knocked off or bent.

Thanks guys, bought a CB

We're bringing the kids (1 & 2,5yrs) so hoping for decent weather especially for the camping but I'm taking Friday off so we'll do a small tour on the way up so worst case we'll stay in a hotel/motel as close as possible supposing there is no Hilton in Ardbeg!  ;)

Have a nice day!

Hey Johan and all,

Don't expect too much in the way of a campsite. We are talking primitive crown land camping. No water, no washrooms. You need to bring everything because there is nothing. Just saying it is a far shot from the Hilton if you know what I mean☺

If you decide to hotel there should be something in Parry Sound. You would be about 45 min to an hour from Black Lake.
