New Forum Software

Post by Injunfarian »

Hello,

As you can probably notice we now are using a different Forum Software, I migrated all posts/private messages etc. Did a review and seems like I caught all of them except for a recent post that happened after the migration from Monk.

Sorry about that, I will try to pull that over later just spent most of the day on this today and need to hope off the computer.

However our previous software was IP.Board v3.4.8 released back in 2013 which is a paid license software, we have since upgraded to phpBB v3.2.9 which was released in January 2020.

Alot of features should now be operational where as our old software was a bit buggy and had some security concerns.

At the moment we are just using a standard theme/style template, but within time I will be building out a custom one as well as updating our site to go with the Canadian Hummer Club brand.

If you have any questions or experiencing any issues please feel free to let me know.

You can contact me on here or directly at cliff@etoolsmith.com

Thanks!

Sounds good, yeah just when I ported everything over I seen the post.. Ideally I should have taken down the old site for maintenance while I migrated to make sure no new posts happened.

Also I highly recommend changing your password on the site for everyone, you may even see this popup. This is because when we did the migration we migrated all users with the same password encryption system. On the old IP Board they were using just a simple encryption of running the password through md5 hash 3 times. Which back in 2013 was somewhat sufficient however since then we now know md5 can be decrypted, so the new phpBB software uses a much stronger encryption system(you can change it to something then change it back to your original password just as long as you change it you will receive the new encryption).

With that being said there is no worry about that message there is no evidence of any passwords being exposed or a data breach it is simply showing this message due to the older system being less secure than this newer system. As well Google noticed that there is a big change in the login form as opposed to the old one as well.
