Make sure to bleed coolant air for summer

Post by Monk »

I'm only using the green antifreeze (for now) but l notice it's time to purge air, when temps hit hair above 220 ,isn't tooooo bad, but seemed higher for me, I basically purged the air on both spots for coolant and wow, even in the 34 degree days it's cool running !!! Basically rides at 200, and even with a/c on,

I guess I'm just saying this as it makes a world of diffrence to get rid of the air,

How would u purge air. On really hot days with ac on, I've noticed the temp Guage goes to 220ish and then the radiator fan turns on and drops it down. If the ac is off, it's running around 200

You say that you're using green anti freeze 'for now'. What will you change to?

I did switch to Dexcool (I flushed and flushed and flushed - while doing the change) and now I've switched back. Again, multiple flushes with clear water.

FWIW, it made zero difference to operating temps.

Google 'Dexcool problems'.

I do plan on trying waterless in future, but I have other projects working on now, everyone seems to like that stuff.

But yea,I mean even with little air in coolant you'll see higher temps, I just bleed these spots after she's nice and hot, then drive around block ,and burp one more time for good measure.

Only use a high grade of diesel antifreeze or waterless.

FWIW, I switched to Dexcool a few years ago in the hopes of lowering my temps.  It made no difference.

So I flushed, and flushed, and flushed (5 times!) my cooling system and went back to plain old Prestone.  Available everywhere, affordable and does a good job.
