Just spoke to Brian, but I see he also made a post.

What I will do is go to the lot we usually meet at (I will post a map link below) and try and be there for 8:30. If anyone unssure of the way there wants - they can meet me at the lot and we can head out there together.

Also I will be leaving promptly at 9:00 so please make sure you are there on time...

I'll have it on in the morning, but bear in mind that there is no service is waiprous so reception cuts out half way there. I will have my radio on channel 2-0 but of course only have about a 2km range in the hills...

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!

Were you guys able to recover the trucks and get them out of there today?

JL: Being that we are the only H3's in the Albeta club I think we should talk about putting together a joint H3 field kit. I will start a thread on it in the H3 section.

We got Carl out in no time early this afternoon--he'd just broken the outer ball joint, less than ten minutes to replace and he was off on his crazy way. Then he caught up with Dave and waited out at Waipourous Valley road for the wrecker that Dave had decided to call to just pull the 2 completely out of there.

I'd pretty much figured with Carl's truck running again, and Dave footing the bill on a wrecker (Ouch!), that I'd forgo running back in there with them since I'd pretty much need to be pulled out of most of the mudholes. I headed back to camp to pack up and head out.

So, not sure Dave's status yet, but the weather was holding, though overcast, by the time we left camp tonight at about 530.
You ain't havin' fun until it comes home on a flatbed!

OK - in the end wasn't as bad as I had thought.

B-Man was totally right (and Billy) - that was a total %^$!%@ fluke that bolt failed. In a way..... silver lining is that if it hadn't failed when I was at 120 on the highway - would have destroyed the right front side of the Hummer as I've seen it happen.

So a quick field repair (Note to self - bring a 35 mm socket from now on..) and I was off and running once I replaced that bolt. Picked up a new shaft this morning - Buddy of Brian is hopefully going to get me cost on a new wheel bearing as better safe than sorry so replacing that was well - and she should be good to go.

I know the wrecker was a total waste of money but it did give some peace of mind just in case Karl got stuck, plus he was making some noise on the other side so may be time to do those rods to. Karl - as the parts aren't that bad - I'd replace both inner and outer on both sides to be safe as you almost rolled your truck on that hill so probably a good idea! Also get those sleaves you saw to boost the strength as I don't think your driving is going to slow down!!!! Image Or do what I did and get the cognito set - I love the firmness it gives in my steering now!

Steve - thanks for the ride back into town! Karl - I hope you enjoyed your stay at casa de' McGregor - the kids loved ya!

But to Karl & Jared - Can't thank you enough for going back in with me to get my Baby back - Could not have done it without you so I can truly say I am extremely proud to call you my friends! Special thanks to B-man for helping with the repairs as my bills on this Hummer are WAY up there so to save a few bucks now means a hell of a lot to me! and my wife! and my kids! and even the dog!!! Image

Jim - it was AWESOME seeing you again - I would love to plan another trip next year and have the whole family out with everyone else's family's and truly have a great time! Keep the trails to the truck trails (No quads any more for me.... for now anyways until my cockiness comes back..) as my girls are still dying to see the falls and that run wasn't too bad if I remember right and was a heck of alot of fun!!!

I'm taking it that the trail was a little to much for everyone.

I do apoligize.

And not sure if I read that right but that wasn't a quad trail.

It was most definatly a truck trail.
