Just a thought but you would be way better off with the K&N in all the time! Why? Because it is an oil soaked cotton gauze that will not let water pass...so if you are deep enough to have to worry about that the K&N will block water passage and cause your engine to stall rather than hydro-lock!! I know I have proved it countless times!!! I would also recommend a snorkel, at least a short one and better yet would be the tall one. Both of these would actually help performance and economy by letting the engine breath with more ease!!<DIV> </DIV><DIV>Also for anyone looking for better power and performance from their 6.5TD, try a Predator Rap-torq computer upgrade the difference is like day and night!! And anyone can install it themselves!! They also have awesome exhaust systems and higher flow injectors!! They also have a kit to relocate the PMD...which most every H1 owner has had to replace at least once!! Along with that you should consider an intercooler kit that replaces your stock radiator stack and replaces the whole thing with a solid aluminum radiator stack that will boost your HP by another 40hp, eliminate the need to forever clean the rad stack after every deep mud excursion! Further it will drop your cooling temperatures by some 30 degrees!! You can get this from Rod Hall Hummer. With all this done you should be getting somewhere around 20% better gas mileage and close to some 350hp and 650lbs. ft of torque! And yes the engine can take it, the priority of the kit is to ehance reliability and durability...besides diesels normally are built with a 300% margin of safety! </DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Another thing to consider is synthetic oils in every component this is free gas mileage...in the range of 15-20% more depending on what you presently use. And they will reduce your operating and maintenance cost considerably! Just a suggestion but Stick with AMSOIL...you will see the highest returns!!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Food for thought!</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Kevin</DIV><DIV> </DIV>
