New Leeds Police Humvee
The Leeds Police Department has a new vehicle. This Humvee was provided through the Defense Reutilization Department. Several local businesses helped get the vehicle into shape for police department use. Maybe our police departments here in Canada will follow suit?? Wouldn't that be great!!

Re: New Leeds Police Humvee
And another...
Read this one..
Watkins, Glen, N.Y. - The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office has received a former military Humvee through a federal surplus property program for law enforcement, at no cost to the county. The 1033 Program makes available surplus property from the federal government to local law enforcement agencies at no cost, to assist the agencies in providing services and saving taxpayer dollars.
The vehicle has been repainted from its original camouflage pattern, with the assistance of the Schuyler County Department of Social Services Mobile Work Crew, and will be used for emergencies, searches, and drug eradication efforts. Minimal emergency lighting was installed, and graphics were done by Vickio Signs from Watkins Glen.

Awesome. It's a great program and I am surprised the us federal government has not done this sooner.

Im typically against most vehicles being done with the flat/matte-black treatment (outside of ratrods & leadsleds of course), but that truck with the slantback and X-doors looks in-freaking-credible that way. Makes me wanna find a set of X-doors myself <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/evil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='>:D' />

Those are probably the commercial/fleet hummers, AM General still makes those in batch orders, even very recently for the border patrol and various law enforcement and fire use.
You see them up for sale occasionally, that's why theres a ton of 03 white pickup H1's out there from time to time for sale.
The guy I got my truck from works on humvees that go from surplus to LEO use. He worked on a dozen or so police hmmwv's for use on the Central Coast of California. As far as I understand the agencies get them for next to nothing, some however are on a technical loan from the federal government to prevent the agencies from selling them to the public.
