Humvee factory to lay off 300

Mishawaka, Ind. — A northern Indiana factory that makes Humvees for the military says it plans to lay off 300 workers. A spokesperson for AM General says the cuts are needed because the military has been ordering fewer of the vehicles.
The new round of layoffs will start next month and follow the layoffs of about 250 workers a year ago. The company says it is stabilizing its production rate and expects to remain steady for the foreseeable future.
