Yeah I have the manual tranny so no coin box on mine; I can tell there is a hollow space there... but I would have to cut into the plastic console and I never seem to be able to do it so it doesn't look like a hack job.



I've thought about hacking into the console itself and trying to use an insert to cover up the hacked edges.

I'm still trying to decide where to mount mine.... On the left would be more out of the way, but I'm right handed and it would make sense as well to have it accessible for the passenger as well..



I think I will leave that open until I get the radio in. The Magnum looks a little smaller than most so it may fit ok on the right...



So - where's a good place for antenna's?

While my baby is spending some time at EMortal..... I also want to try that hill we stop at where Karl killed his diff. the far right one hasn't been conquered and if I remember right - even Harold couldn't get up it....

My new tie-rods have finally come in and they are being installed as we speak so I finally get me Humma back this afternoon. Almost a week without a vehicle really really sucks!! Kinda upset that they failed for no reason as these were the ones that were reccomended so makes you realize the benefit of doing your own homework prior to making changes, not that there is any blame at all in this case.... simply defective maufacturing from Cognito so they have really tarnished their name out there! We'll see if they make ammends and send out new tierods as they are aware of the issue and are correcting... I just don;t trust them now and don;t want to wait that long. At least I'll have trail spares now along just in case!

Dave thats my problem , I dont know where to install me cb . I took apart my dash and theres no room ...for a large vehicle the H2 is very compact lol. For now I have it mounted right behind my console (as i never have anyone in the back) where the back seat controls are. Dont really want it there but there's no place else I like it ..sigh....may have to get a custom install $$$$$$ <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ngHead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':banghead:' />

Yeah - you don;t have alot of room there, that's for sure.



I have a fair bit of room on the dash as the whole thing is flat which is nice, I just want to ensure I don;t loose any visibility which is why i think I will wait until I get my radio before I make any final decisions as I'll play with it a bit for positioning.

I would definitely prefer it on the right.



In the picture is the 2 areas I've been toying with - leaning towards the "yellow" as I would like it accessible to the passenger....

For anyone wanting portability as I am looking for Midland makes a nice one hand unit as well. Model 75-822. It gives you walkie talkie capability as a handheld as well as plugging into a CLA and using an external antenna.

I like the idea of a hand held - but looking for the power of the head units. I understand that the limit in Canada I guess is 4 watts, but the unit I'm looking at is 30 watts and range is key out there. We will then use the hand held walkies when we are out of the trucks encouraging someone through that gigantic mud hole <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... lleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' />..

Perhaps do some more research.



30 watts is not legal, but that aside, it is not as practical as you may think.



You may be heard by others at a longer distance, but you will not hear their replies.



And a one-way conversation is not too helpful unless you are hollering for anyone to help you in an emergency.



Even then, you will not hear any 4 watt responses if they are out of normal range, though they will hear you.



Also, if they are in normal range, you will overpower their unit and they may not be able to understand your 30 watt transmissions, even if they are in sight of you.



Stuff to think about.
