The worst part about this is that it could have been preventable. The people involved beat around the bush for awhile, but it is eventually admitted that alcohol was a factor. What is even more outrageous is that the driver of the vehicle was the president of that organization. (He resigned after the incident.) Furthermore, it was his girlfriend's vehicle, and it was not insured. Fortunately, after it is admitted that alcohol was involved, they do start to get quite soundly flamed, but his girlfriend continues to defend him, which I find naive and insulting to me own intelligence. I do not care if someone's handling of the fall helped them survive, when it was his previous actions that caused it in the first place. You never hear police go, "Wow, it's great that drunk driver only took out three pedestrians, because if he went the other way, he would have taken out four!"
