Every few years in Moab, if we get a nice moon and clear skies we do a trail called Fins and Things in the dark. WITH OUR LIGHTS OFF!



We try to not touch the brakes since they fire the brake lights. The trail is pretty easy but it still has some steep climbs and a couple of drops where you're standing on the firewall.



All in the dark.



It's actually really cool. Once you get used to the dark you can actually see shadows cast by the moonlight of people and trucks.



Wheeling at night can be a blast.

I've been in the dark only twice... Man I was glad I had put in a set of HIDs right before! I'd like to do another midnight run for sure... but for me I think I will keep the lights on!!!!!

Oh and I should say... if anyone is not familiar with Cochrane or not sure where the meeting spot is I'll be happy to send you my cell number before hand, just send me a PM on the site here!

Good call, for those who joined later in the posts, there is a map of the location on page 1 of this thread which shows exactly where it is in Cochrane. The parking lot across from Timmy's in front of the Prairie Smoke Restaurant. Just remember across from Timmy's as every Canadian can instinctively find the closest Tim Horton's!



Just like the dog finding his way home - we instinctively head for the closest Timmy's instead!! LOL - it's a Canadian thing...

This Saturday rain or shine 8:30 at Prairie Smoke in Cochrane. We'll likely be back in Cochrane about dinner time. Is that correct?

Yep you got it! And as far as what time we're back into Cochrane... we absolutely travel together on the way to the trails and all day long, but when we're off the trails it's just an easy drive back into Cochrane so people will for the most part leave as their schedules dictate. If we plan to be off the trails 4-5ish then you'd have no trouble being in Cochrane by 6. Personally I like to hang out and goof around in the pit area for a while after the trail ride but everyone is definitely free to go as their schedules dictate.



The road to Waiparous is about 80% paved and the graveled section is graded and generally in good condition, so anyone needing to get home can definitely do so safely. All I'm saying is don't feel like you need to stick around and be the last one to leave!! I just have too much fun so it's hard for me to leave sometimes... <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... on_cry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



Only 4 more days!!!



And the weather is looking great too!! Long range says 13 degrees on Saturday with calm winds so it should be a good one!!

who knows how to tune a cb? ..i dont have any time to get down to the cb shop for them to tune it ..its all hooked up , just need a tune ..hoping to use it this run .

I think Sugarbaby has a tuner or access to one as he tuned his handheld last run out.



I still haven't had a chance to get mine in yet - I think I'll try the weekend after our run. I also wanna go get that 3 stage wax kit from Maguires and try and get some of those scratches out....



I was down by bearspaw dam tonight with the dog and did a little muddin - really got me in the mood!

That sounds awesome!!! That would quite an adrenaline rush as in low gear - that acts as your brake I guess. Plus I've seen the moon shining across the desert and I can actually picture it as it would juuust give you enough light to make out the major shapes and stay on the trail! I really would love to make it down to Moab, it's been talked about for the fall...



So still that much snow out there eh? I wonder is the ice is off the river so we can get to the falls....
