Alberta offroad certification
It was mentioned at our last meeting that a group that offers offroad certification for Land Rover owners might be able to provide the same service to us. If you have any information regarding this group, would you be able to post it here so that we can pursue this? In addition to being a great lesson in offroading, this will be a great benefit for obtaining Canadian Red Cross HOPE certification when we reach that stage.

Re: Alberta offroad certification
Hey Dennis, What I have been doing here in Quebec with James is once we locate a really good trail, that has everything and then some along the way, we will do a club run over it to certify new members and to ensure their off-road skill is up to par...the trail we use has several puker and breath-holding moments but results in highly confident drivers and I give certificates to attest to the fact that they have completed Off-road driver training with honors. These are day long certification that have Mud, Rocks, river crossings major off-camber and steep declines with drops and many possibilties for winching, this way I know that once someone is certified they can run on any trail with confidence and be prepared for HOPE service no matter the off-road conditions!! Myself I was certifed at the factory since I used to be a Hummer Tech and know how to push the limits of my Hummer and I certified James on a Class 9 trail last summer, and you can ask him... it was do or die certification on a one way rutted off-camber trail in the mountains that yielded new aerodynamic enhancements (DENTS) to our skidplates and our exhausts and diff covers. We stayed puckered and barely breathed at all for 4+hrs. it was that steep in places, but now James is so confident over everything that we scout out for the club rides, that even Class 9 trails are no longer stressful events but things we long and look for!!<DIV> </DIV><DIV>Kevin</DIV>

I have considered using the talents of some of the local owners to do something like this. I have a lot to learn myself, so it certainly wouldn't be me doing it. I have been on some extreme terrain offroad with my wife as members of NA4WDA and survived, but I don't think I can train others. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Thanks for the suggestion!
