Web cam Logitech 9000 pro hooked to my windshield rear view mirror, my laptop securely in place in a RAM Mount for the H3, Cam hooked to the laptop and recorded the entire infield (1.57Gig +- 1hrs of video) from my H, the entire run level 3 ( 3.75Gig, 1hrs 20min ) in the morning and the entire level 2.5 (8.58Gig, 2hrs 20min hrs) in the afternoon.
its all in whide screen, had another cam. (rider cam) that took about 45 min of infield,, havent got to that one yet.
Ask Markus, and Alexander,, few more have seen the set up,, forgot to take picture of it.. maybe alexander took one cant remember. for sure , will set up the same on any other event. Should try to get 2 cam on the laptop one front one back..
Looking onto it.. maybe I can highjack the singnal from the back up cam to record on the laptop..

yes it it,, you also need a laptop that is capable enough to deal with the quality and the data, otherwise it will be choppy.

streaming video constantly is asking a lot on the CPU, Memory and Hard Drive.
Requirement,, I would suggest 2+Gig of DDR RAM of decent speed, at least double the HD free space than what youre planing ( as average 2hrs video = 10Gig space) of free space on hard drive for spooling, and virtual memory usage. A CPU Dual Core or more, 1.6Mhz and up, where a core or more can be designated for the job.
SO roughly , any recent mid range to high end lap top or tablet pc ( not the tablet only(Ipad Style), a laptop that can transform into a tablet) can do the job.
laptop older than 4 - 5 yrs may or will have a hard time with the task. especially if they were from big surface store, as they are more often than not,, under power, under memory and many hardware parts are the cheapest one you can find on the market.
as test you can try a video chat on msn, skype or any other communication client, if for 30 min or more, video look good, "no lag, no choppy, voice match video" it can probably do the job. But if any of th esymptoms mentionned occured, you may encounter problem.
