Winter Tires for Quebec Hummers

Well at the moment only H3s really have a winter tire selection, but H2s and H1s don't really have anything. We are good till 2013 but we will require winter then, just to be legal. I found the perfect winter tire that all Hummers can use. BFGoodrich Radial All Terrain T/A. It is RMA certified but only certain sizes!

The stock H2 tires are not certified but the 37x12.50R17 is! So if you needed an excuse to get bigger tires then you can step up one size and be legal for winter driving as well! This tire will also work for H1s.
I have used the BFGs as winter tires on several of my trucks and I have never been disappointed, the grip in snow is just awesome! I never really had any problem with ice traction either!
So at least we have a winter tire choice available!
Get ready for winter it is coming!

Actually Kevin, I do believe that all Hummer owners across Canada Can benefit from this information as we all have Snow, even though Quebec does get a lot

...
I am sure it will not be long before that law makes it way across the country...
Now where can we find Snow tires for stock 16.5" rims?? And does the Quebec local government make you buy new rims if no snow tires are made for the stock size rim??

I live in NB and we get a lot of snow here! So I just got my stock 16.5 Military GY tires studded. It costs me 30 buck per tire and now they can't say anything about not being a winter tire!
And got some Irok 39.5 for next summer! Can't wait for the summer now <img src='

Very True D! However for the moment the rest of you don't get fines for not having them!
For winter tires that are not available for a given size, it will be on a case by case sceneraio, it is only based on original equipment. The law cannot force someone to change to something other than stock IF there are no winter tires avaialable. However if some off you guys are looking for a great excuse to give your wives for why «You Need to Upgrade your wheels and tires» this would be a great one to use...provided you live in Quebec! <img src='

Mind you I think that if a cop pulls me over for not having winter tires, I will make a deal with him...I will drive thru an unplowed field or parking lot that has some deep snow in it then he will have to do the same with his winter tire equipped police cruiser but make his own tracks...when I have to pull him out I think he will get my point! <img src='

Those BFG A/T's are good until about 50% then theyre worthless. Be aware of this for anyone trying to save a buck and buying used.

Honestly speaking most winter tires suck when they get to 50%...then they become really grippy summer tires!!! <img src='

well its my 5th winter with my winter Toyo, i might change them this yr for yokohama geolandar I/T G072, it was my first choice back in 2006 but tire shop didnt have any in stock, so i choose the next best thing out there since i'm 95% on the icy/snowy road in the winter so will see.
they were the only ones back then (2006) Toyo / Yokohama to have the size 285/75-16 for the H3
What is the regular size for the H2 ( i never really checked )

You H3 guys have a HUGE selection of winter tires to choose from! And yes those you mentioned are some of the best!
The stock H2 size is LT315/70R17, not used by a lot of vehicles so that is why it is commonly overlooked!

I wish goodyear would make the duratracs in a 37/12.5/17 size, as Id buy em in a heartbeat for my H1 for a dedicated winter tire. Ive been offroading with guys who have them, rigs that vary from a level-kit lift & tires, to a full long arm TJ w/35" tires, and they hold up just as well in most cases as an aggressive MT while retaining the winter ice traction of a street tire. EXCELLENT tire that Id love to see offered in more sizes.
