H2 Questions

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the site and a huge fan of the H1. At this point I don't have the money for that, so presently I have a 2004 TJ that's fairly well built and on 33's.
My good buddy has an H2 and is getting into wheelin since I took him out the other day. I have some questions that I was hoping some of you guys could help with as I don't know these trucks too well and am trying to get him set up with the minimum.
- What is the size of the stock H2 wheel? 17x__?
- What do you guys do to beef up the TRE's? I've seen a few H2's "smile" with their front wheels when crawlin'.
- I was suggesting the Goodyear MTR/K's for him. They work really well and are tough so wanted to know what the Hummer crowd thinks of them?
Thanks in advance.
Look forward to living vicariously, and if some of the BC members don't mind off-makes out on runs I've love to come along and see the H1 in action in real life.
Russ

Russ,
Welcome to the group..
I have both a H1 and a H2 and I will answer some of your questions, and I believe many more will chime in as we all have done a few different things to our rigs to wheel them a bit differently
First, stock tire is a 35" BFG AT rubber on 17" rim, good all around tire but not great if you want serious wheelin
I run 37x12.5x17 Goodyear wrangler MTRs/Kevlar, I have replace my torsion keys and cranked up the front 3"s to stop it from rubbing.. I have run 37" Regular Goodyear MTRs prior and the Kevlars were an addition my new 2011 edition
the H2 is a VERY capable truck, if you have never wheeled one before.. well give it a go.. it isn't just for Mall cruisin.. take it to the trails and you will me impressed.. HUMMERs are truly like nothing else and it is always nice to see a JEEP guy's head turn when a Hummer drives by..
Ask away as many questions as you like, next time mention the year of your buddies truck, most years are the same but there are some differences, especially with the newer models..

I'm almost positive it's a 2007 and was already impressed with what it took when we were out. Here are a few vid's of him, and this was all done in 4Hi without the locker because the electronic system wouldn't engage 4LO for some reason.
So the max tire size for him without rubbing and such would be a 35x12.5 I assume?
What about the TRE's? Do you guys beef them up, carry spares, etc? What about your CV axles with the IFS? Any issues there?
Thanks,
Russ

oh btw let your buddy know you really really have to watch the wheel spin on the H2's (unless you're in mud lol) or you will break something.

I broke a TRE, replaced it with a new one and a reinforcement sleeve from ReadyLift. I also carry spares.
I run 37x12.5x17 ProComp Mud Terrain tires. I've cranked up the torsion bars a couple inches and have minor rubbing on the front tires, at full lock, on the sway bar. They look great!

Welcome to the site Russ!
Quick note regarding the 4Lo situation. Were you in Neutral when trying to put the truck into 4Lo? If not the lights on the buttons will just flash and revert to normal with no change. This is something I learned myself. My first trip on a trail was to rescue a stuck ATV, to get to it I have to go through a very deep bowl of mud, I couldn't get the truck into LO no matter what. After I got the ATV out, and were back at the cottage, I broke out the manual (yes I said it, I am a man and read the manual!! <img src='

your bud has a stellar truck.... my H2 is a 2007 also. <img src='

Did the same a Norm, new Torsion keys, cranked up front end and now running 37x12.5x17 and yes a bit of rubbing on full crank...as for the wheel spin, yea that is a big one.. be careful..and if you hear clicking... back off QUICK!!
