Throttle body cleaning on H3 Alpha

Post by shotgun-cam »

Ok here we go first clean engine Coweling and remove oil filler cap now lift coweling from front . replace oil cap and clean coweling

what you'll see is this

Image

loosen the hose clamps on airbox ( as you would to change air filter) and at front of engine. now unplug pvc valve hose from bos ( 9 o'clock position on photo) it just pulls out. lift out black plastic air intake unit and clean its outside.

from the front the engine looks like this( top nuts have been removed)

Image

pull small grey clip on airbox side of throttle body and check plug for other locks and disconnect wiring plug.

now using 10mm socket or wrench remove two nuts from top and two bolts from bottom of throttle body and carefully remove unit (TAKE care not to damage green ring seal gasket)engine now looks like this.

Image

now take unit and place on paper towels ( over newspapers is recomended).rubber gloves are recommended

use cleaner as per instructions do both sides. a small brush may help and towel out deposits. it may take several trys donot force butterfly open be carefull.

Throttle body looks like this

note keep cleaner from plastics and we used a small toothbrush that was thrown away after.

Once clean return unit to engine and place back on studs flat side to engine and plug towards airbox. replace bolts to bottom and nuts to studs tighten .

plug wiring back in and replace small grey clip.

replace air itntake and press down reconnect air box clamp and throttle body clamp rings tighten both . Plug pvc hose back and press into its gromet.

try engine .

replace coweling note on each side there is a small rubber tab at rear of engine compartment on skirt these go inside the coweling. then press down when locks align.

cost cleaner about 11 bucks, paper towel 50 cents, rubber gloves 1.50 ( dollar store) tooth brush a buck time under two hours cost at dealer about 150dollars plus so for the cost of the tax you get the job done. reset the computer by simply disconnecting battery for 30 seconds and your done.
