"Service 4WD" message on DIC for 2003 H2

Post by collega »

Hi. About one month ago I got message on my DIC"Service 4WD" on my 2003 Hummer H2. I didn,t do any offroading or severe driving conditions. After stopping car message didn't come back. After one week of driving-appeared again. Right now it's coming out very often. Do anybody have any idea what to do? I know I should go to pull out code number from dealer, but I don't want to do it. Any other idea.

Thank You.

I have never seen that on my Truck, well at least not yet...I do keep it serviced a bit more then the average guy.. I change my diff fluids probably more regularly then required and also the whole off road thing puts my truck at a bit more strain and therefore I get it checked over often and greased well...

anyways I suggest you buy a quick code reader, I got my at crappy tire for about $150.. well worth it compared to what a dealer may charge you to just read a code..

Yes the repair needed is a software upgrade to eliminate the unwanted service 4wd light. It doesnt always represent a problem so a code reader may not be your answer also an H2 is totally different than any H3 alpha or not, the H2 only has some related components to gm full size pick-ups. I can assist you in the repair if needed or you will have to go to your local dealer for this software upgrade. Now I am only comparing your hummer to past experiences but an inspection of the 4wd system is needed to proper diagnosis this problem. Any other questions or concerns i would be happy to help. cheers

Thank You for your answer. Did it help? That message "Service 4WD"'ve gone after changing transfer case oil or not? Actually I have around 106000km mileage and I don't know did previous owner change it or not in generally(I bought my track around 1 year ago).So it's good idea.

Thank You for your answer. Can You suggest that I should change oil in my transfer case to eliminate this problem?
