Shocks

Post by Khamul »

I would love and appreciate some feedback regarding shock absorbers for an H2

I have a 2008 H2 and will be doing a 2.5 suspension max liftt in the front with a 2" spacer lift in the back and new Samco Coil Springs which will give another .5-1 inch increase as well. I'm going to leave stock in the front and use the new extensions that comes with the kit... but I want to replace the rear set right away.

Now there is alot to choose front - I was leaning towards Bilsteins but need to know which specific one as well as other options like Rancho and BDS.

From what I have read so far - Bilsteins are the most reccomended but bearing in mind that they don;t run Hummers and the added weight may play a factor. Another factor are coil-overs to help disburse some of the weight.... Good option?

Please let me know what you think (Especially you Kevin, but I believe you went with an air shock if I remember right) And which ones specifically for an H2 if you happen to know that.

Many thanks!

Well TC hummer is at the Spa but that doesn't mean that I am relaxing!!! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' />

I am using the Bilstein/Firestone Air shock up front and LOVE THEM!! Order them from summitracing...best price I can find anywhere! One thing don't use the nylon air lines, I use bendable 1/4"copper tubing instead and never have to worry about puncture or leaks.

For the rear I am using Bilstein 5100 series shocks Part Number BE5-A937-HO

I got these from Essex Distributing in Richmond, B.C. go to www.bilsteincanada.com

This package will allow you to float over the worst roads you can find anywhere!!

Hope this helps!

Ok Back to wrenching on TCs hummer...I mean back to 'massaging his H1 to get all the kinks out'!!! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' /> <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... oflmao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rotflmao:' />

Despite what it says it more than exceeds our requirements especially if you are swapping out the OEM shocks for these!! Also remember we all qualify as the occassional off-roader!! We all drive on the street to the trails and off-road at best 1 a week. A deadicated off-roader would be a vehicle that is trailer to and from trails and used exclusively off-road or a vehicle used for off-road tours...but that is a whole other discussion!!
