Still Losing coolant

Post by combanx »

Sorry guys for not responding sooner I had to go away.

Well my son used the truck and put on about 1000km anyway said he had to add about half of one of those bigger jugs I think they are about 4 litres.

Anyway there are no signs of leakage and when the truck is at normal operating temp. you can grab the big coolant hose and squeeze it . It does not seem to have pressure. The same thing for the coolant expansion tank. I can unscrew the cap and just here a very small presure relief. Not like once before when I took the cap off, there was a lot of pressure and had to remove very slowly.

There does not seem to be any loss of power or exhaust smoke differance, everything else seems fine.

Like I said the only thing is the exhaust manifold on the passenger side seems to have a air leak, maybe it is cracked or gasket is shot.

Any suggestions

Thanks Paul

Go see your mechanic and see if they can test the rad cap, then the rad system to check for leaks.

A tiny hole at the top of the rad can loose the pressure and not show much leakage. If nothing jumps out at you, you may have to wait till it shows--bigger leak.

Thanks for the reply,

If it was the head gasket what would be the tell tale signs of that?
