How'd you ruin them?
[/quote]
The bulbs are H1, basically just glass with two prongs.... the KC's came with H3 bulbs, it has some kind of a thin metal holder that mounts into the light. I tried to get the holder to work with the H1 bulbs, came very close... but both times when I was attaching the prongs to some wires I ended up breaking the glass around the prong.
Not a huge deal I will need to replace it with a new one which is about $7; for now I rebuilt the holder and put the original H3 bulb back. I spotted some 130w H3 bulbs that KC makes... need to get those!
Well, at least I am ruining my own stuff this time. That's the way it should be! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Re: How to ruin a set of lights...
I have the 130W KC H3 bulbs in my model number 121 long range slim-lites, and I absolutely love em. I think the light output on them is something ridiculous like 285,000 candlepower, which for a halogen is RETARDED. I only use them for short periods of time, but have lost absolutely all use for my highbeams when flashing approaching traffic who selfishly leave their highbeams on ALL the time, on the highway.
I also found that I could stuff a Litech H3 HID bulb inside the slimlite housing too. 55w HID + Slimlites? Muhahahahaha
Link included for reference - http://www.kchilites.com/lights/slimlit ... nge-black/
I think for the bulbs, my cost, was something ridiculously reasonable, in and around the $15-20 range for the pair of replacement bulbs for the lights too. They are part number 2766 <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Whooooo, 55w HID's would be killer! Normally the off-road HID's are only 35w!

Yup, and the beauty will rely in the fact that the 55w will be nearly twice as bright as a 35w, and not only that, but burns at the exact same temperature as the original bulbs so no worries about overheating, burning wires/harnesses, or warping housings. Might just need to extend the wiring from the bulb to the ballast though, but thats just two wires, and easy <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Where are you getting the Litech HID kit from? How much is it?

What kind of price range do you have in mind?
It also depends on what you plan to do with them too, if you need some extra lighting on the highway or backroads then you can look into some of the Piaa lights. I use mine almost exclusively for blizzard conditions, gravel roads and traveling back roads at night so I usually grab a light that projects farther.
For 4" driving the Piaa Cross Country HID kit looks good, plus they are designed for powersports so they will stand up to off-roading.

The 510's are also 4" but they look a little wimpy for power. They also have the 410 series, but I think the above set is way better

For dedicated off-road where you just want to light up an entire area go with KC or LightForce, the lightforce are similar to the Roo-Lites because you can just them from pencil to flood pattern.
For KC they don't make anything too small that has 100W, only the 57 series (5" x 7") seems suitable.

Then for lightforce same thing, a 5.5" round light is the smallest... but the HID version packs a hell of a punch.

Because of the smaller diameter it is hard to get a good off-road light, anything with a lot of real power is probably going to be more of a spot/pencil light.

Re: How to ruin a set of lights...
GAS Performance, in Winnipeg sells the Litech lineup (made by Intelliscent) of LED panels, bulbs, HID kits, etc. Their prices are decent and they offer a 1yr warranty, which a lot of brick and mortar stores locally cant/wont provide with competing brands. Ive already done converted the three dome lights in my H1 over to their 6x8 LED panel, and some other interior lights, and it looks superb. Nice and bright when a door is opened at night, and a brilliant white, not the ugly halogen yellow, lol

Re: How to ruin a set of lights...
When I have the cash Im changing all my aftermarket lights to VisionX LED's ....Ive had enough of PIAA's ...my 510's (day time running lights) stopped working after our last trip and I noticed there was about an inch and a half of water inside the lens in each light ....so took them apart to drian them and replace the bulbs (80 bucks) which I wasnt to happy about cause I just bought this new set about 6 months ago and look what else i found behind the lens

Re: How to ruin a set of lights...
Some good news, the dealer ordered in brand new replacement off-road lights for the ones they accidently melted while my truck was in for service.
Now... the real question is, do I mount them up or leave the ones I replaced them with on <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
