H2 Speedometer works Sometimes

Post by Road Warrior »

Anyone else have an intermittent speedometer Only acting up on an H2. This one is a 2005 SUT. The odd time it will just stop at whatever possition it is at. If it is at 0 it stays there, or at whatever the last speed was and when restarted and all the gauages normally reset to Zero, sometimes it will begin to jump down towards 0 again, or if ignored it will just start working again when it wants. All other gauages in the cluster are fine and checked the plug on back when the dash was apart to change the radio and remove the Onstar.

Everything else is working including cruise control and the DIC mileage calculator.

I don't have a repair manual for this and would test out all the connections once I new what to look for. Electrical is not an issue, just intermittent makes electrical issueshard to track down.

Will post the answer once I find it but would love an input if someone else has had this problem. Don't want to replace the whole gauge package if it is only a loose connection that can be fixed before wasting money for a new speedo if not needed.......... Rino GPS is backup when the speedo decides to take time off...lol

Thanks

not exactly sure what or why but mine did the same thing.

the dealer changed out the cluster and told me it was a common thing in the earlier years.

if you have warranty they should cover it.

hope this helps
