so Sonny I had an issue with my glow plugs the other day similar to the one you mentioned...it was weird.. would not light up in the morning, then when I cam home it lite up..so I drove it out to Phil's and we swapped out the glow plug controller and all is well now, touch wood, and they are pretty cheap....

so maybe a quick swap of that might work for you.. it is only four nuts and one a 3 pin connector for your truck..

Roy...ur about a good hour plus away...I would prefer an h1 mechanic to do the work because you guys know the ins and outs of this vehicle.

Anyways, we put the new pump on but it started leaking from the lower passenger side bolt. My friend will be coming back tommarow to reclean it up and try it again.

Any suggestions on what could be causing it.

Derek just gave me an idea at another forum regarding CAA? I have the 200km tow pkg from CAA. maybe I should have done that and had it towed to you Roy.

I'll know for next time

Email me your contact info and address so I can save it and can contact you for work on my h1

So how did it turn out the 2nd time ?  Does not matter if glue is dry, it is an addded seal, normally the gasket will do a good job.
Have to double check, but thread sealant may be required on a couple of these long studs.

Didn't get around to redoing it. We got stuck in the ice storm with no power all day Sunday. I'll get it done Monday or Tuesday and will let u know. I've been reading online. ..people are saying to add sealant to the long bolts Because " the bolts pass through the water jacket in the block"..so I guess I'll get my friend to do that on the long bolts before taking it all apart again and cleaning it up and redoing it. I've drained the coolant so hopefully it's dry before we apply the sealant on the bolts. I'll keep u updated.

Roy...i got your contact info saved. Thanks.

Just finished but it's still dripping..i have a question...

is there a gasket I can buy that goes between the plate and the block.  The water pump came with only 1 gasket that goes between the pump and the plate. ..but nothing from plate to the block.  When we took it apart initally, there wasn't anything between the plate and the block..just silicone between the plate and the block.

Finally no leaks....

.I was able to find a gasket that goes between the backing plate and the block...the water pump came with a gasket between the plate and the pump but nothing b/w plate and block...anyways, few hours of elbow grease again, put all back together and it doesn't leak. success

Well almost...I thought I might as well change the thermostat and I ended up breaking the 1st bolt...I figure I might aswell quit now and let the professional mechanics to take over....hopefully Roy or Phil can remove the broken bolt and change the thermostat so I can get a bit more heat inside the vehicle from the front. I'm sure I can drive with just the2 bolts holding down the thermostat housing

I'll do the same but am worried about breaking them if I do it myself...I'll take it to the shop to get it done and make sure any seize is on the bolts before new ones are put in

need to pull cross over pipe off to remove stud. Heat and a little pressure will normally get those free.If you take this pipe off, I can remove stud quickly as you wait.
