I have some slight damage to the ball joint bore on my upper steering knuckle / geared hub. I want to buy a hand reamer to repair it but I can't find what taper it is. Does anyone have some insight??

I don't know how bad the damage is but I would feel in the taper and take any high spots out with a file or dremel tool. I would then put it back together. Remember the taper is just a locking system with no movement in that area. the movement is internal in the ball joint. I think this would be fine as long as the damage is not to bad. Good luck.

I wish I could get away with filing off some burs and installing the new ball joint. I won't know for sure until the new ball joint gets here but it looks to me like the bore itself is out of shape.
