Woke up this morning and noticed my truck is limped. Rear passenger tire went flat. Checked for nail etc..

Nothing.


I refilled with air using compressor and it held up for the whole day. In the evening, noticd tire looked a bit low and now seems to be getting even lower.


I had the ctis lines and valves etc all redone last year. I had some custom quick disconnects done by Roy.


Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? Should i disconnect the quick disconnect and just put air in? It's passenger side rear only.

Disconnect that tire from the system and see if it is still going down...if yes your problem is isolated to the tire. If it holds air then your problem is inboard BUT normally both rear would go down if you had an inboard CTIS leak...very curious about this one!

When your ctis is plugged in , BOTH rears would "lol I thought" would go flat also, I've never heard of that, damn Roy and his fancy systems, hehehhe

But as PB mention IF you ctis is plugged in at the middle of the rim, unplug it and see if tire goes down as the days goes by,,,,if it does (while unplugged) it in the tire most likely midden well....

I was chasing a ghost leak as well last year, ended up being a spindle seal....seams after I changed one ,lol the others would show, but now I rarely use my air pump...

Now if your tires don't go down while you have unplugged...,,,

You'll be wanting to dig, drink a bottled water bottle (the good stuff) then refill it with tap water, hehehe

You'll need (I think) a 5/16 clear hose or 3/8" not positive off hand....

Go under each hub in rear (with tires plugged in) and pull (by hand) the vent hose going into the hub..... It's easy....

Then from the nipple that's on the hub stick on your soft plastic tube...,and stick other end in the bottle of water and just watch....

If your getting bubbles in the water, then seal need replacing...threw trail and error found it was a semi easy job.,,,,

Plus I felt "useful" after i finished the job...lol....my chest was sticking far out....

Also thinking here , if I remember correctly , the quick connects from Roy has a little seal oring on them,

When he did mine he gave me a back up set as the Orings tend to break.....

Get some soap and water in a bottle (it nice outside) and spray or splash on air joints and valve stems , if there's a leak you'll see bubbles also,

I didnt disconnect anything last night but This morning passenger rear was completely flat but driver rear was perfectly fine...a bit unusual as they are connected. My understanding is that The leak in rear should even out into both rear tires if ctis is connected


Anyways, i used the ctis selector and switched to "rear" and pumped air into the rear till the guage was at 35psi. I've disconnected the rear passenger side ctis. Let's see what happens. I'll keep u all updated

This is the pic of the ctis disconnected at the wheel...I just released the quick disconnect so now I believe the passenger rear is independent. The remaining 3 are still connected.


Btw the guage on the instrument cluster reads 0 for rear tires and 35 for front but only the passenger rear tire is flat. The driver rear is normally inflated

Correct me if my understanding is wrong w ctis system...the two front tire are connected and the 2 rear tires are connected. When I'm inflating the tire, I can put in air on right side and the left tire will automatically fill up


Sp if thats correct, If the ctis is connected and the leak is in the tires (ie nail), wouldn't the other good tire deflate aswell as air will be trying to even out in the rear tires ? Or is there is a valve somewhere that doesn't allow the good tire to deflate

Here is everything from the parts and service manuals on CTIS. You might spot something that will save you some time. It does give a precise description of all the components too.

Your correct, Front 2 are connected and rear are connected... If you get a nail in your tire both should go down.,

Btw can you disconnect only the drivers rear ctis, push in that stem that sticks out? I'm curious if any air comes out when you push ? It should .... Remember that passenger (bad side)still connected.,. And vise versa to see if air will flow from opposite tire to other side..... I'm curious if air shoots out from the passenger tire... It should..... Both should

Plus make sure the drivers side ctis is seated good...that one tire thing irks me, never heard that before

Ok monk..heres what I did as you requested...


So I reconnected everything (including the bad passenger side rear) to start over.


When I disconnected the driver side rear and pushed in the little white peice, there was a puff of air (as u correctly expected it to). So I reconnected the driver side rear and disconnected the bad passenger side rear (there was a puff of air there too).


So for now, i filled up both rear wheels to 35 and disconnected the rear passenger side and left just the driver side rear connected (both front ones are connected as there is no problem)


I'll see what happens in the morning.
