Has anyone ever did this?

When I had my wobble issue I was reading on some jeep forums that some people did this...tighten steering box....

Hell, even see some vids.

Well, I (for laughs) as my truck is super high miler , figured I try it,

The top of our box is a 5/8 wrench and Allen socket was 3/16

Loosened the nut, and clock wise turned that Allen bolt, about 3/8 ish, and wow, not sure if in my head, but there Was a little slop I had , that after now is gone,..

I can feel a diffrnce and happy with that little adjustment,

Basically I'm saying if steering feels a little sloppy (as long as front end stuff is all good) that little adjustment was a pleseant job and helps

Yes, I have done it in a Cherokee that I used to have. I had noticeably sloppy steering and that got rid of it. You just have to be sure not to overtighten it.

Lol, THATS what I worried about, actually I think was just 1/8 turn, like was small, but feeling was noticeable ..., seems jeep people do this more so, or lol post more on it, hehehe

But I do recommend if steering feels a tad sloppy

Yes guys do that all the time but I personally never have as when ever I had a steering box issue it was also leaking so I just replaced it. Glad it worked for you.

Yup me too. Instead of adjusting I ended up with a new steering gear assembly. I saw the rebuild instructions on one of the forums and decided to just get the new factory one put in. Man there is so many little pieces that have to be just right. As an amature I'm too chicken to play with the steering box.
Good for you Monk. No leaks and now no slop. That truck is going to handle very "Corvette" like now.  :)
