Header Rust Look Question

Post by dwaxman1 »

Guys,

quick one and I how someone has a quick and "easy" solution for me..when I got my new Gibson Headers installed, we didn't powder coat them, I know big mistake, but now that I have had them on there for a bit and exposed to our great canadian climates, they are all rusted looking.. what to do?? how can I get these looking good again without having to take them off? any ideas?? the issue is you can see them through the passenger side front wheel well and it looks very bad, and as that the rest of my truck is BLACK, it really stands out..I will post a photo when I get a chance.. but until then.. thoughts??

thanks

Just to share my experience with headers... None on the HUMMER but I do have a set on my Mustang and I have to say of all the mods I've done the only thing I regret is the headers.....

As far as an 'easy' fix you might try some an exhaust wrap, which is that fabric wrap that acts as a heat insulator and just wraps around the header pipes down to the collector. It looks kinda neat and would hide the imperfect finish, other than that I have no idea what to suggest!

This is the basic idea...
