Good Carwash Thread (Calgary)

Post by Sugarphreak »

After going to Richmond car was on 33rd ave & spending anywhere from $40-$60 each time I come back from off-road only to have to take it in for another round later because the water was recycled and dirty... I finally started asking around to see if I could find that illusive awesome car wash I know was out there somewhere.

My old favorite cash was was actually on Horton road just one turn past the Brick... you used to be able to wash your entire car with $5! However lately I have noticed extremely short times on the meter and really the water quality was not so great anyway.

So I followed up on another recommendation, this one was also on Horton road, closer to the London condo buildings and the Heritage station... I had passed by it many times and never given it much thought.

Here is what I found;

-Very knowledgeable staff, quick to tell you about the reverse osmosis system and essentially CLEAN water they use... not recycled. The guy really knew his stuff, I was impressed!

-Soap that you could douse a supermodel in and not feel guilty! It was creamy thick awesome soap that stuck... much better than what I was used to at the Richmond wash.

-Clean rinse water, to my surprise when I cleaned the soap off the truck... no dirty film, it was actually clean (imagine that, clean at a car wash!)

-Good pressure on the spot free rinse, also as I mentioned before I was very impressed because unlike spot free at Richmond which makes my truck look like a polka-dotted eyesore... there was no spots after. Amazing!!

-Long run time... about 1.36 mins per dollar, which means for a 25 minute wash I only paid $18

-TOKENS! As if I wasn't getting enough for my money, they have an 11 for $10 deal <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Anyway, just thought I would share! I was floating on cloud 9 over there!

On a side note I was washing away and I thought I heard a pump running or something so I stopped.... didn't hear anything for a bit, then there it was again. So again I stopped and it was a guy trying to turn over his car, but it was just endlessly turning over without catching. So I took a few minutes and popped the hood, had a quick look and noticed he had washed under there... he had sprayed his distributor cap pretty clean but it looked like he had gotten some water into a few of the boots. I took some tissue paper, dried them out... VVRRROOOMMM! He was pretty happy, I think he was a bit surprised that a Hummer guy would help him out!

In Toronto best unit is on Dundas west of Scarlett road North side wash bays also have an underwash blaster system. Some bays even take Rhino with mast up (11' clearance)

They give you $3000 fines in Calgary for washing a car in your own driveway if bylaw catches you... <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ngHead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':banghead:' />

In Toronto we have a power washer but in winter the hoses freeze and its nice when the weather permits to clean off the salt under the truck as well as the shiney bits

I enjoy washing it all the time in my drive way. Just so my retard neighbor who drives a RAM can be jealous of all the people that walk by and say 'nice car!'

wow Nick.. I never knew that, I wash my trucks in my driveway or on the road all the time... no such law in Brampton that I am aware of....but what if you buy the "enviro" soap from Crappy tire, that Green soap...I wonder if you still would get a ticket...
