You said in your post that you bought yours from a friend in the States... Was it through a dealer??? I purchased mine through a dealer..and they are doing the safety and all the work so that it is valid in Canada. It has to be done if te dealer wants to sell it in Canada.

my 2005 came with DRLs, I had no issues at all as I said..
LES BOYS, MY 2003 H1 AND MY 5 SUV'S ARE FROM THE US.....AND I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH THE DEALERS .THE ONLY THING IS THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS.

they dealer would need to do an inspection if you did not buy the truck from them prior to them insuring the warranty is valid.. this thing about the cluster confuses me.... I never had to change mine, the dealer did the inspection on my US truck as I did not buy it from a dealer here in Canada either.. they needed to confirm the truck was in good shape prior to letting the warranty be valid here in canada and also prior to me buying the extended...
they charge me around $500 but that was for the full inspection, oil change, transmission flush, not sure what else they did...

hmmmm they didnt charge me anything for what they had done...but they did phone GM to find out for sure
they were told that it had to be changed for the remaing warranty to be valid in canada...
so its all done...they did flush trany, etc, new brakes,they couldnt put on a block heater but they did put on the heater pan.
