Newbie question Rough Ride
It's been 1 week since I picked up my Hummer H2. I had a close mechanic friend of mine check it out before purchasing and he said everything is pristine. However to me the ride seems rough. The suspension feels tight and all but just the ride seems rough. There is no sag so to me it does not seem like shocks. However it has 220kms on it but appears to have been a street queen. Could it just be I'm coming from always driving a car and just need to get used to it. When I drove a H2 a couple years ago on a test drive I do not recall a rough ride. Anyways any input appreciated. Is there anything I should check?

Your H2 should not ride rough at all!
A couple of things to check;
1. What are your tire pressures set at??? They could be overinflated.
2. Are the shocks OEM or Aftermarket? Some aftermarket shocks ride much firmer that the OEM shocks.
Post some pics of your H2...it might help with the diagnosis!

Polar you forgot are there booster leafs in the rear springs ( former owner may have put them in to make truck do things he wanted)*. . Rhino has in last year had 4 sets of springs on for rough ride and shackles hitting the frame (look at bump stops and if shackles are clear of frame with no marks on frame where shackles would swing up and hit) one set had booster leafs installed . Finally what suspenion package was originally installed (ask GM with vin they can tell you and register vehicle with them for recalls their lazy in tracking used vehicle owners.) Also tires different tires different rides and noise as well.

Re: Newbie question Rough Ride
Thanks guys for the replies. So my mechanic friend who specializes in camaros and mustangs suggested it's something with engine or catalytic converter as when I decelerate it would make a roaring noise. The vehicle has been sitting for awhile. He suggested step on gas pedal and open it up a bit. Well wouldnt you know it now rides smooth and when I brake it does not roar anymore. He also suggested only running 89 octane or higher gas. So this morning it is riding smoother and when I brake it's smooth. Also the idle seems a bit smoother. It was idling not super rough but more like a misfire.He suspects it's a plugged catalytic converter. Or due to it sitting a while in a indoor car showroom that it just needed opened up. I thought the roaring sound was a little odd when I would brake now it glides to a stop when I brake. Let me know what you guys think

Check or change your brakes...they have rust build up.
For the engine, run some fuel system cleaner thru and give it a good workout!

Re: Newbie question Rough Ride
Those are good points but only for the H3, not for an H2. The H2s are coils or airbags only.Polar you forgot are there booster leafs in the rear springs ( former owner may have put them in to make truck do things he wanted)*. . Re: Newbie question Rough Ride
I agree h2 should be smooth , when I got my old h2 I ditched the leaky air bags in rear, for a new coil springs. Was cheap and a easy job,

Hi thanks for the suggestions I will check out the brakes and run some fuel cleaner through it as well. I don't have the air suspension as when I went shopping for a H2 I wanted to make sure I found one that didn't have it.

If truck has sat for awhile place old carboard under it to check for small leaks as seals may have dried up. Just ask Roy his H1 from the states.
