Lift pump question

Post by Monk »

Ok, I'm working on my stereo stuff while my truck is down,,,,

And was more so wondering,,,,

I THOUGHT If I turn the keys the lift pump ticks for about 10seconds then goes quiet till I start.

But yesterday, I turn on key (to energize a power) and I'm sure I coulda left the key on for ever and It keep hearing the pump tick ...

It's running the full time ignition is turned,.,,,

-----

I have other issues with my truck right now, but I've been meaning to rewire my amps etc, so when decently warm I go out and play..

I'm sure I'll have a million more question this month as time goes

JUST checked...my lift pump stays on for about 10 sec and turns off till I crank it over and then it stays on while started.

Btw since u are working on amp etc..how are u bringing the power wire from the battery to inside? Is there a way to bring the power wire from the battery to inside from the PASSENGER side? I know there is an opening from under the compressor to the driver sidw foot area but I want to bring a shorter wire from battery to passenger side rear seat so I can put my power inverter under the rear passenger seat.

Passenger side, wire can go thru the bulk head fitting for the vacuum line

Now today I was messing around with my amp stuff , and turn my key and I heard the ticking,,,,,, and lol after 30 sec still was ticking, then a minute goes by and still was ticking..., but again starts super fast,.,

Was wondering if anther issue ? Lol seems when it rains it pours, hehehe

Sonny,

There is a place on the right side. I was able to pull a few things through and there is access through the dash around the HVAC and behind the radio to get to the left side easy for a switch to the relay powering your inverter. (If you're using one)

Good luck

Monk,
My lift pump seems to pound away till I start the truck...then I can't hear it. I will pay more attention tomorrow when I start it cold with the full glow plug cycle.

Monk... I started the truck cold today and listened to the lift pump. It does shut off just as the glow plugs shut down before the start. After that..who knows with all the smoke, vibration and noise...  haha

Hope you got it figured out.   :wtf:  :smil9:

Thanks!!! Ya I swore mine used to shut off as well after a few secs, but again yesterday I turn my key and I seen the glow light cycle on the off, but lol my damn pump is on steady, tick tick tick, I waited 1 minute and still ticking,,,

Maybe a week ago when I turned my key , I didn't hear anything, but like I said truck always fires fast, super fast.... Any ideas ?

Does the glow plug relay active the lift pump?

Seems when it rains it pours,

Lol, I was working on truck yesterday (warm weather) wanted to dig in,....

My timing chain was sloppy so I advanced my pump a little, a bandaid till summer basically ... I stepped on top of my rad and

(Not heavy step either) and my seam broke, the rad was re-cord couple years ago, so had to get some solder tools and fixed that all nicely yesterday,.....

As stated before I'm working on my stereo stuff also, and wow, the corrosion from salt is nutz...with wires exposed...

Thanks for the pic. I'll give it a try next weekend and fish the wire through there.

Btw I have a diesel H1 but my engine seems to look quite a bit different than yours. Good job.
