Some Cool Parts Everyone H1 REALLY NEEDS TO HAVE!

Post by whitehumh2 »

Hi Guys,

We all know the common little things that trip up the H1s and really stress us out, but here are some really cool parts to eliminate that stress...FOREVER!!!

Problem 1: Geared Hub Spindle Nut comes loose and Tire/Wheel/Spindle separate from truck...Very Bad Situation!!!

Solution: Install Bluehummers new spindle lock nut kit and never worry about it again!!! http://www.bluehummer.com/lospnutkit.html

I have already installed this kit on TCs H1 and it is really nice!!!

Problem 2: Halfshaft bolts come loose even with red locktite and new Nord-lock washer...which then destroys the caliper carrier, flange rotor, halfshaft...your nerves!!!

Solution: Install Bluehummers new halfshaft locking bolt kit and never worry about it again!!!

Hope these tips help to reduce your stress and help you to enjoy your H1 more!!!

Another one ALL you H1 guys should consider is this one:

It is common for the solid lines to brake and to be weak due to the movement of the caliper, this would be a great way to ensure headache free brake service and eliminate any possible kinking of the brake lines!

I have to say, I have worked on my H1, and if you follow the procedure outlined in the Service Manual you will not have a issue. There are outlines to tell you if your spindle nut is bad, and you need to apply negative pressure to a certain torque spec to verify it is good.

As for Nord-Locks, I find them to be awesome, and several thousand hummers and even more humvees agree. Why make thing complicated? Replace them every time you remove them and you will never have one back out. Plain and simple.

Are the nordlocks an H1-specific part, or can they be sourced from a multitude of tool/fastener places?

Source @ any fastener place. Fastenal usually has them on hand.
