What is in your Winter Arsenal of Recovery Gear?

Hey guys, Ive noticed that over the last few years of offroading and owning larger than normal/average trucks that Ive made it a personal mission to keep a good share of recovery gear on hand for those situations of helping a buddy or stranger out. Post up what you guys regularily carry for recovery/rescue gear and let's see who is prepared! <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />





1 x 4"x30' Recovery Strap

1 x 2"x30' Recovery Strap

1 X 2"X15' Tow Strap w/ Hooked ends (for small cars stuck in drifts etc, not major recoveries)

1 x 3"x6' Tree Saver

1 x 2.5"x2' Axle Strap



2 x Recovery Hitch (like these, always nice to have an extra on hand if the truck you're helping doesnt have a good recovery point, but has a hitch)

3 x 7/8" Clevis

1 x 5L Gerry-can

2 x 3 D-cell Maglites

12 x Hand/Foot warmers



And:

Snowpants, Parka, Hoodie, Gloves, Hat, Socks, and -100 Hi-Vis Rigger Boots for myself

25' of Winter-rated Air-hose (for the compressor to inflate other vehicles)

Tie downs & Bungee straps

Extra 2L of Diesel Additive

Paper Towels, Garbage Bags & Zipties

Tire Deflator

I carry a gerry can, 4" x 30' recovery strap and 2 clevis, tie downs and bungies, tool box, candle, warning reflector, warm blanket... and a loaded Tim's card!!

I carry way too much stuff......but I am always prepared... I added some Hot packs today to my gear after Hesh put the idea into my head.



I will inventory my gear tomorrow and list it... too much stuff.. :-)





I have two trucks to inventory, both have gear in them!

I like the recovery hitch... where can I get a couple of those???

If they didnt weigh a good chunk I'd ship you a few for a helluva deal, but any truck store that carries/has access to the Tow-Ready/Hidden Hitch/Draw-tite/Reese product line can get you one, part number: 63046. Also, other companies like Warn, Smittybilt, and plenty others make the same style hitch, but I found the one I mentioned first (the one I supplied the part number for) to be the cheapest (I was selling them for $29.95 + tax locally), and Ive used it plenty of times for when Ive gotten stuck, and unstuck others - it IS beefy, and *does* come with the clevis, but you will need a hitch pin for it.



If you are going to go ahead with it, I would NOT advise using a locking hitch pin, simply for the fact that with offroading and our winters, you'll likely find that the locking hitch-pin will freeze or seize on which is more hassle than it's worth. I keep my hitches inside the truck, one anchored to the tie-down ring in the back, the other anchored to the vertical frame rail of the passenger seat, on the floor, so that if I were to be taking a steep descent, or god-forbid a head-on collision, I wouldnt have 10+ lb chunks of steel flying at my head/windshield. <img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... ght_on.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':right_on:' />

Been building and filling up the H1 with GEAR, man oh man there is a lot of shit in there now...I have the following now..

• 4 recovery straps (3"x 30')
• 2 Recover straps ( 2" x 20")
• 1 recovery strap (2" x 10')
• 1 recovery/tow chain 10' with dual ended hooks
• 1 Tree protector strap
• Snatch block
• 8 shackles 5/8" (USA MADE!)
• WINCH (tested and working)
• AM General official Jack for H1
• Complete tool box and complete socket set
• Two way radios
• Candles
• Multiple flash lights
• Snow pants, two extra jackets, toque, ball caps, three pairs of different kinda gloves, -40 socks, boots, shoes etc..
• Multiple hot pack
• Garbage bags
• Portable air compressor and hoses to hook on to internal compressor
• Torq Wrench
• Folding Pylon
• multiple blankets
• of course First aid complete kit
• Multiple different fluids
• always two cell phones
• Multiple "extra" H1 parts
• Extension code
• Booster pack
• Lots of zip ties and tie down straps
• extras head light bulbs, fuses

This is what I remember off the top of my head, but I believe there is a lot more..and this does not include what is in my H2..damn still want to find a receiver with a shackle on the end and need a smaller jerry can still too.
