Brakes on a mountain bike are better than ones on a H1 Hummer
Hey guys,
I know this has been talked about on other forums and on the Hummer knowledge base but there really hasn't been any talk of it on here that I've noticed and I'm still having the same problem.
I replaced my seals, pads and rotors on the back of my 95 H1 last year and once again the back right is sticking and almost melting down my rig. Does anyone have a fix for this and or have a real reason on why this is happening?
The excuse that the right side sticks because all the dirt on the road washes to the right side of the road and then gets flicked up onto that side of our vehicles is one of the worse reasoning that I've ever heard.
Anyone?

very true... I have heard that same excuse before as well but I have never heard a good response or reason as to what the resolution is...

I think it has something to do with the e brake setup. I have a feeling that after the foot brake is applied that the e brake portion of the caliper is not turning back or releasing. If this is true, why would it only be the right side?

my truck is doing the same thing, eats up rear pads and rotors twice as fast as the fronts...
I am thinking about swapping out the rear calipers for fronts ( i am pretty sure they are the same minus the ebrake)
and then getting a set of the wilwood stand alone mechanical calipers to use for the ebrake...
I havent delved into it to much yet, but I dont think it would be to difficult to fab up a bracket for them.
Another option would be to pinion mount the ebrake but that would require alot of work... swap to pinion flange, drive shaft modes etc...
I have a set of rotors on order from HPG so I might try to make it work when I swap them...

I'm thinking the same thing, put the same one's as the front on the back. They don't seem to have problems and like you said they mount the same and parts and replacement cost are about one fifth of the price.
This might fix the problem but still doesn't give a reason on why ours are doing this

Alomost never, but I know it's in good order as I made sure the last time this happened that it was all in working order. Actually I haven't put in on since I replaced all my rear brakes.

Make sure ,if you have an aftermarket exhaust , that the brake lines are protected from the exhaust heat.The fluid heats up and applies the caliper..
Hameee, when you rebuilt the calipers not long ago, was the piston coating clipped in any way?May of needed pistons.Just a thought.

I was thinking something like that also but apparently the 95's and maybe other years that are notorious for this problem so I don't think it's something as simple as that. I think it must be a design flaw of some sort
I like the idea of the exhaust heating up the lines but I would think that would affect both left and right as they are the same line until the splitter behind the diff frame. I'm going to check into this though.

Does anyone know for sure if the front calipers will fit on the rears and or what's involved? Just in case I go that direction...
