I sincerely hope this brings their company back to life. I had a Bold 9700 for a couple years, picked it up when Android was just coming out and Iphones were unaffordable. I now have a Galaxy S3, and couldn't believe what I was missing.

How is it compared to their previous devices?

completely different than any other BB. QNX did a brilliant job on the software, much more intuitive extremely easy to use the one touch typing is incredible. I rarely type a whole word after a letter or two an entire word is displayed on the keyboard section of the screen then you just fling it up into the msg your sending. The Hub and peek functions are extremely convenient. Blackberry world (formerly Blackberry app world) is toally re designed you can buy and rent movies and tv shows which is a nice feature since the phone has a mini HDMI port so you can hook it right to your tv and watch what was purchased or rented from the app store on your home theatre

Planing to go and see it tonight, never been a big fan of 1st generation phone. Mostly because , buggy, expensive, unreliable. Been having the 9800/9810 Torch for 4-5 yrs got them for peanuts back then, now the Z10 looks interesting enough to make me go and see. Its a make it or die for RIM if this phone doesn't measure up.

Are the apps still incredibly limited / expensive? Guess we won't really be able to answer that question until developers start attempting to write them for BB.

BioHazard - over 70K apps and growing in my opinion they are not expensive. The cool thing about app world is that it now has music and video offerings you can buy albums, movies and tv shows, even rent movies through blackberry world.

Archngel - Skype is not available as of right now. There is video chat on bbm if that helps you out at all.... also a mini usb and mini hdmi port on the device
