Holy crap are you serious?? I fail to understand how you are bringing all of these technical aspects into my opinion that someone who sells a product should know the basic information about WHAT THEY ARE SELLING??? Not sure if you need more coffee or less.

Simply put - a place that sells tires & rims should know the basics behind the product, that's why when you ask them their opinion of which is a good tire for my application.... they can answer it!

Kinda like when I go to soundsaround and ask which is a good TV - the saleman will go over the various brands on which one is good and even knows which ones work best with the various Blueray players and audio equipment. Did he go to Harvard?<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' /> NO!!!

I went to Leon's the other day and asked which one is a really comfy couch for my basement that I can lounge in...... well, didn't he walk me right past 4 - 8 models to a specific one that was the cat's meow..... did he go to Yale?<img src='http://www.canadianhummerclub.com/forum ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' /> .... I highly doubt it!!

When I got my license, I went to the gun club and asked their opinion on handguns of choice, well before he would answer that... he took me to the range and had me fire a couple models so he could basically see what I was doing and looking for and then reccomended a model that I absolutely love! Did he get honors at McGill....... Maybe, but the great big "mother" tatoo across his chest kinda makes me believe he didn't!!!!

But.... each of these people above (all true occurances) knew the products that they sold and could reccomend the right model for the consumer!! And guess what..... when I asked my guy at Kal Tire about the rim and tire I wanted for my hummer.... guess what... HE KNEW!!!!!!!!!!

What youre failing to acknowledge isnt the 'tire brand opinion' element of the discussion/enquiry, but rather the x-factor. The op's main gripe was whether a certain oversized tire would fit, and was disappointed by the lack of customer service (or what he expected/thought was customer service) when they didnt know (see below).

The problem what I am facing is that when I went to the OK Tires shop in Barrie and asked if the 35" tires fit without modification to my H3 was told that is for me to find out from HUMMER manufacturer. What a good customer service !!!!! [/quote]

If you go and buy a TV and ask the guy if it will fit on your mantle, what's the first question he's going to ask you? "Well, how big is your mantle" If a person doesnt know how big their mantle is, buys a TV and then it doesnt fit, the onus is on the retailer to return said TV and make matters right. Sadly, with regards to tires, most tire salesmen are very good at finding what size rim and tire combinations you can run safely (and without modification) on the basis that you are maintaining the manufacturer's original outside diameter, however no matter what, as soon as a tire is mounted on a rim, that rim is now unreturnable, as is the tire, and the shop must sell those items at a (typically significant) reduced price just to cut even or not lose *too* much money, as margins are that tight when it comes to tires and that's if they even will accept the tire/rim pkg on a return! Your hangup seems to be on the recommendation of which tire brand for him to go with, whereas Im focusing on his disappointment with the lack of help and info with respect to oversized tires. The kid making a measly wage (and if he's lucky a commission) at the counter at your local ______ Tire shop isnt going to want to assume the risk (if he's worth talking to, and isnt a crook) of selling the customer a bad product vs not selling him the wrong product and making the customer 'measure his mantle' on his own. There is nothing wrong with politely recommending the customer do their own research, as they very frequently, will be the ones getting burnt having not done so. Hell I could be working for PhlyBiKnight Tires and tell you "Oh yeah, those trucks are awesome, you should buy 37's, and dont worry! They'll fit bro!" but very quickly would I run myself out of the market when my customers start mounting their product.

On that note, I will say Ive had excellent things to say about the Hankook Dynapro M/T's that Ive run on the H1, and they are by and large the quietest tires Ive ever ridden on in a MT style, and do exceptionally well offroad in Snow, Mud, Sand, etc, and they arent death-traps on ice, and if you plan on going the route of seperate summer/winter rims & rubber, the Hankooks can be studded for the utmost in winter traction on ice. If I recall correctly, they come in both a 325/65/18 (34.8") and a 275/65/18 (32.3"). For what it's worth, I will have no problems buying another set when the time comes, or recommending them to close friends, and if you shop around, the price on them is fantastic too, typically.

Sorry to butcher this topic, but this will be the last post I make in this thread debating/regarding the tire & customer service industry.

eyeah, let's leave it now...

Anyways... 6115 - good luck with your choice... do check out those Goodyear's though and see what you think. The ratings on that site I posted give them a very good overall score all around. I think I'll give those a try when mine run out. great rating in all categories, not just excellent in one and ok and below in the rest... I liked them!

Probably pricey though...

Hi guys. I know this is an old topic but I need some help. I am looking around to buy 4 new tires with rim. My choise is Toyo Open Country M/T for the tires and Blackout from Fastwheels for the rims. ( ? ) The problem what I am facing is that when I went to the OK Tires shop in Barrie and asked if the 35" tires fit without modification to my H3 was told that is for me to find out from HUMMER manufacturer. What a good customer service !!!!! Here is my question guys : How are this Toyo tires and how noisy are on the hyway ? How big can I go without any modification ( not touching anything when turning ) on my H3.

Thank you for any ideas, help.
